The Emporium is about 5 hours by interstate from where we are, and we made the trip just to go to The Emporium. We also decided to travel off-interstate to see the fall foliage, so the trip was longer, but beautiful and fun. We enjoyed the scenery, we stopped wherever we wanted, and enjoyed each other's company. The Emporium isn't my kind of store (antiques), but my wife loves it, so it was fun to see her have fun. She doesn't get around like she used to, so I brought a chair and set it in an area with lots of things she likes. She sent me to scout the store while she looked. The ladies who work there were very kind and showed her things she might like and helped her move around while I wasn't there. The store is HUGE. If you can imagine something that might be in an antique store, it was almost certainly there. And there was far more than I could imagine. I texted my wife pictures of things I thought she'd like. She bought a lot of very pretty things and had a wonderful time. I was able to see only about 3/4 of the store, but at the end of the day, fun...

Employees can be incredibly rude and assume you are stealing. the picture below is exactly what I was wearing and how I was carrying everything with the exception of my phone (which was in the wallet). The pins and earrings where taken from me and put up front rather rudely while my friend (carrying 2 Keychain and 1 pin) was not asked for hers but she was carrying a medium size purse. Exactly where did the employee think I was going to stash stuff? Especially when I was openly carrying it and had been for a little while. Considering I spent over $50 that trip I was left with quite a sour taste in my mouth and likely will not be returning for a long time. I'm incredibly saddened by this experience as this was one of my favorite thrift...

A great place with a HUGE inventory. The place is absolutely jammed with a variety of antiques, so something should spark in interest in about everyone. They have a very big selection of books, but many of them are a bit overpriced for what they are/condition in which they are. They have two cashier desks, with signs in the mall pointing to them. That, combined with the amount of rooms in the antique mall, can make it a bit confusing the navigate every so often. Overall, this is a great place to wander around for a while. On my first visit, I was a bit tired from a long drive, so I returned my second day in Strasburg for a longer visit. The cashiers & a couple people organizing their booths with whom I spoke were all...

Really large space with lots of booths and rooms to explore. Tons of variety: handmade goods like soap and journals, truly vintage items, and then some brand new boutique type items as well like handbags and cutting boards. I'd reckon you need at least 2 hours to just walk through all the aisles and give everything a cursory glance. Some of the vendors provide detailed notes for their items on the item labels. If you're the kind of person who enjoys reading interpretive signs and historical markers, I'd plan on 4 hours here.
