Spotted this place the first day of our vacation and couldn't wait to try it for dinner and drinks. My wife and I decided to stop in the last day of our vacation after a full day of hiking in and around Custer State Park, so after an hour and a half drive to get there, we were hungry and I was thirsty. Immediately thought that the place looked awesome, they had a full gift shop with cool merch that I was going to spend some money on, and had a great selection of beers - was looking forward to the Wit and 2 Hefeweizens on the menu.
We were seated immediately indoors, and it was well over half empty. Then we were absolutely ignored for 30 minutes. As were 2 or 3 other tables that came in around the same time as us. Again - place was over half empty. The hostess started moving other tables to different zones because they were being ignored too. Eventually, we decided that 30 minutes with no one even checking on us or saying "sorry, be right with you" was too much. We left without being served and took our business elsewhere. Shame - cool atmosphere, well stocked gift shop with cool merch, and a great selection of beers. But obviously not worth an hour and a half drive if you...
Read moreI was really impressed with this place. I'm on a road trip on my motorcycle and only staying in Sturgis for one evening. It was just a 15-minute walk for me from my motel so I decided to check it out for dinner. Turned out to be well worth it. For the quantity of food that I ordered, along with a number of samples of the various local brews, the cost was much less than I was anticipating. The food was good, the beer was excellent, and I loved the vibe. Initially, I thought it was a little slow when I got there, but it turns out I was just early. By the time I got up to leave it was definitely filling up with people, which is always good to see for businesses. And my server was Mr Johnny on the spot, which was a welcome find these days. I wouldn't hesitate visiting this fine establishment for...
Read moreI can't believe they won't except a local customers check. Especially someone who knows the owners. Plus they charge a fee for using a credit card. And when you pay with cash. Don't expect to get any coins back.
I went with my mother who knows the owners and was a business owner in Sturgis for years. She saw they fee for using a credit card so she figured that she could write a check and was informed they don't take checks. So she paid cash. ( She is retired on a fixed income). And when the waitress brought the Change it was just bills. No coins. When my mom asked about the coins she was informed that they don't deal with coins. oMG.
I will never ever go back and I will tell everyone to avoid Sturgis Brewery. If that is the way they treat local...
