I went to this climbing gym because it is near my work and there was a groupon for it. I normally go to Atlanta Rocks or Stone Summit. I have been climbing for a number of years but never too seriously and would rate myself as a beginner to average climber (5.9-5.10a). I went with my girlfriend who is just getting into climbing (5.8-).
The owner was cool and made sure we knew how to belay. I am not a fan of the grigri/locking carabiner setup they have for their top-ropes because I believe it is bypassing safety in an effort to save time (and grigri's in the hands of novice belayers can be trouble. We saw a little girl dropped by her parent while descending a wall.
The routes here are rated significantly harder than the routes at Stone Summit or Atlanta Rocks. A 5.8 would be in the 5.9-5.10- range at another gym. The routes did offer some fun and interesting moves that were really unique for gym climbing. I thought they were better routes for the ratings than at stone summit or atlanta rocks, but there were certainly a lot less of them and the climbs are very short due to the height limitations. I do think they need a greater variety of easier walls as my girlfriend was often left frustrated by the challenge and had trouble on even the (5.6 rated walls of which there were about 5 total climbs in the entire gym.)
Basically I am giving this gym a 2 star rating because of the lack of easier top-rope routes (and a lack of top-rope routes in general), and also because of safety concerns (it is not just the grigri problems. The ropes are old, auto-locking biners have bad springs that may make them seem closed when they arent, ropes are routed over pipes, ropes are often too short, one top-rope route finished above and far away from the anchor hanging in the rafters, etc).
*THIS WOULD BE A GREAT GYM IF YOU ARE A STRONG CLIMBER LOOKING FOR INTERESTING ROUTES/PROBLEMS THAT MORE CLOSELY MIMIC OUTDOOR CLIMBING.
Novices-average climbers are better off checking out Atlanta Rocks or...
Read moreWow! What an awesome find and rock climbing establishment. Found out about this place while searching for a rock climbing facility that could help my son complete his climbing merit badge for Boy Scouts and I'm so glad we discovered Adrenaline climbing! When we came the first day we were helped by Dima and Dani who helped me to get in touch with the owner to set up a private session for my son to complete his requirements left for a merit badge he had partially completed. After emailing the owner he replied promptly and helped me set up a date where his staff would be ready and be able to set up for the climbing merit badge course. On the day of the lesson we were greeted by Connor who was very kind and helpful and ended up being the one who was the teacher for my son. He was very thorough and easy to learn from. My second son wanted to tag along with us and was able to explore the facilities and learn about the fun and excitement of rock climbing at Adrenaline Climbing! I definitely plan on returning on another day to help my sons further their enjoyment of climbing. In any case this review is for a job well done by the staff of Adrenaline Climbing and a glowing recommendation for a seamless and fun experience. I rate Adrenaline Climbing 5 stars and give two thumbs up. Thank you to Connor and the staff and have a...
Read moreI know I should've read the reviews in which I normally do. I only came to read them after the experience my family and I had. This was our first time ever going Rock Climbing. We decided to do something different the era we experience was one I never experience in my life. We felt the same as Deveane Atkinson who wrote a review about being of color. The staff didnt greet us ask if this was our first time here. The stuff didn't explain anything about any experience, harness, training nothing! I understand how Jody Freeman felt and they experience. Also Sierin Watts who was spoke to rudely. This was the worst first timer experience and a first time and last time customer. My family and I went through all three of the customer's above experiences that they went through at different times in one day. When I speak of the staff it was about 6 workers at the desk. None of them assist us they were all having a conversation among each other. As if we wasn't there none of them acknowledged us until I had to ask questions on how does this work? what do we do next? Is the gear on correctly? So no one gets hurt? Etc... Basically they would only answer when we ask questions. WORST PLACE EVER!!! My money is green like everyone else's. My green will be spent elsewhere. We...
