Market Basket — Local services in Sulphur

I’m not from Louisiana, but my wife and in-laws are so we visit from Houston at least once a month. Every time we leave Louisiana we stop by this Market Basket to get things we just can’t find in Houston (or rather they’re just not as good in Houston). We get boudin and sausage here every time. My wife says, if anyone says Market Basket doesn’t have some of the best boudin in the state they don’t know what they’re talking about — especially because Market Basket has the proof to say otherwise. In the meat department above the display cases there are plaques on the wall for all of the awards they’ve won in competition. They also have a great frozen food section as well and we enjoy the frozen boudin balls because they’re perfect for individual-sized portions.

In addition to the great meat selection the service is excellent! They’re always amused with how excited I am to buy everything and anything I can bring back home; I always explain that I’m from Houston and they always understand my excitement over Cajun/Creole groceries. I love the old school vibe of this supermarket because it reminds me of my childhood and what supermarkets used to feel like thirty years ago. It makes me so happy...

Just Witnessed a MANAGER completely insult a paying customer of thievery for no reason or purpose. The manager ran, screaming in this poor woman's face stating she had to pay, no social distancing implace, 3 inches from her face because she assumed she couldn't speak English. The woman calmly provided the rude old lady her receipt that she had paid and informed her she needed propane. So they walk outside and I see the old woman begins YELLING at the woman, illegal, illegal! Assuming she was going to go back inside with the propane. She did not apologize. I confronted the woman and called the store manager to be told ONLY that she will have a talk with her. One of the most unprofessional and ridiculous things I've had to witness. Definitely one of the top two in the area and a good radius out with the most appealing and prime produce. It isn't all bruised up or a mess it's well organized and well priced. The staff is very welcoming and happily ready to assist. There was a lady I hadn't seen before in the meat department and she complimented my family and was ever so sweet she ran to us while we were getting ready to check out and asked to pray with us and the timing couldn't be more perfect.
