The Dairy Barn has excellent fried shrimp and fried catfish. They have shoestring onion rings which are nicely flavored and plentiful. I love their lemonade which is always freshly squeezed.
Children and families are welcomed as much as workers on lunch break or after work. They are really fast with the food prep to table time, especially since it is all freshly made. You should never have old greasy fries or food. If you have a problem they correct it quickly with a smile.
There is a drivethru for convenience. If your order takes a bit longer, they have you pull up to process the next which maybe faster. I like to call ahead if I am picking it up to eat at home.
The unusual thing that makes this restaurant unique is there is an electric train that is mounted and runs around the dining room perimeter. It is mounted up high so that everyone can see and enjoy it. My deceased Mom had a train set, which I now own, so the restaurant reminds me of her in some ways.
I noticed today that they have Tea and Lemonade available so that we can refill our drinks prior to leaving the restaurant. Over the years of eating here, we are always greeted cordially upon entrance, and Thanked for our visit as we exit the establishment.
I believe it's owned by a local man and/or his family. When one visits this restaurant, you are treated like an old friend whom one hasn't seen for years. It's so refreshing!
I encourage you to stop by and please say, Cathy sent me. :) They probably would ask who? Just laugh and say, Google Review. I'll get pics of their place or try to see what pictures are needed to help y'all see their place.
I always get the fried shrimp, my husband normally orders the catfish. We share our food with one another.
High Chairs are available. I believe it is handicap friendly, too. There are men's and women's bathrooms. There is a disabled parking out front, so I think people in wheelchairs would have a nice dining experience.
I am not sure about booster seats, are they used any more? My youngest is now 34, and when she sat in those it always scared me. Kids can lean yoo far one way or the otherand just fall/flip out of them. Or should I say the 1980's designed ones were that way.
Ok call me over protective....she said controlling. I answered this way, "Were you ever kidnapped, or did your face appear on a milk carton among the hundreds of thousand missing children?"
She replied, "Umm, No Momma." I further stated, "Alright then, I did my job and I apparently did it well." lol Don't ya hate it when we Moms point this stuff...
Read moreThe first thing I noticed was the complete lack of menu along the drive-thru. I ordered something basic to better judge: a double cheeseburger with lettuce and mayo, a side of fries, and a water. Instead, I received a double cheeseburger with tomato, mustard, raw onion, and confetti lettuce, a side of fries, and a water. First, the burger itself: grey, dense, and lifeless. I wouldn't even call this a good burger, much less a great one. It's obvious no attention to quality was given to the meat. The bun was also soggy and squashed. Second, the fries: worse than the burger. They are large crinkle-cut fries with an airy interior, and soggy exterior. They're not fried to a golden, crispy perfection; they're yellow and limp. They give the strong impression that they were purchased from the freezer section of a grocery store. They were also virtually devoid of salt. They may have been edible with ketchup, but I wouldn't know, because they didn't give me any. They also didn't give me any napkins, which would have been nice to have to clean my hands after wiping off the burger toppings I...
Read moreWORTH THE DRIVE!!!! We've been wanting to try the burgers at Dairy Barn and finally got the chance. There was a line when we walked in and I completely understand why. Ashley greeted us and took our order and Amy took care of us at the register. I don't know the other staff members names, there were about 5 or 6 others, but they were all working hard and super friendly. The atmosphere was inviting and we truly felt welcomed, like they really wanted to serve us. My boys loved the train and the train whistle. The old school coke lights were reminiscent. We ordered burgers, fries and onion rings. I was over the moon when I saw the onion rings were the shoe lace onion rings. SOOO GOOD!!!!! Our burgers were absolutely delicious and the fries were perfect, just needed a little seasoning. We got our boys 25c ice cream cones that were huge. Our total bill with drinks was $40, so about $10 a person. Great atmosphere, really good food, amazing staff, family friendly and affordable. We will go back and I highly recommend...
