Sunapee Rock Shop — Local services in Sunapee

I was out for a drive on one misty New Hampshire morning. I saw this place out of the corner of my eye and pulled a hard 180.

"Rocks?! ", I thought to myself, "Why not?!"

As I walk up through the lifting morning fog, tinged green by the glow of the sun through the leaves, I find man sitting at a table outside by a mitre saw under a tarp. The down home feel and relaxed vibes of a multi-generational family business are immediately apparant. Some of their stock comes from local land the family's had for time immemorial.

We strike up a conversation, walk inside, and I'm transported to another time and place.

I'm surrounded by the breathtaking products of geological processes operating on scale I can barely comprehend. Agate. Amethysts. Ammonites. That's just the A's. All those millions of years, all those conditions that needed to be "just so" to form them. The extraction, the transportation, the finishing.

It was humbling, tbh.

Anyway, now I'm hooked.

I highly recommend you stumble in here one morning, meet the owners, and see what nature's been up to the last few...

I'm not giving a review about only this amazingly beautiful shop that I've drove by for 10years and never knew was really there, but I'm also giving a review about a new acquaintance that we met, very knowledgeable, very honest, very kind, but just looking around and interacting with her about questions on pieces she has, or similar interests in polished rocks... PLEASE do not sleep on this little piece of heaven shop. It is a must!!! And we look forward to returning! She went above & beyond what most people get in shops, again she is very knowledgeable, respectful, and just an overall genuinly kind woman. My 9 yr old son and I visited and we both loved it. The lady there was very helpful and knowledgeable about a lot of stuff! She has a nice selection of stuff with a wide price range. Our favorite part was picking put a raw geode and using her special geode cracker right in the shop to open the geode right in half. We will definitely...
