This RV park is directly on the beach in Surfside Beach Texas. The park is clean and well maintained with a very attentive staff. They have a variety of sites with some that are front row beach view, but even the sites furthest from the beach are a 30 second walk to the sand, and you can hear the waves crashing from anywhere in the park. They rent everything from golf carts to beach chairs that you may want to have at the beach. Great restaurant and bar on the property too. If you are looking for complete tranquility this may not be the place for you because there is some traffic coming and going to the restaurant as well as music and the sounds of people having fun at the deck bar. We like this environment and everything quiets down by 9 during the week and around 12 am on the weekend. It definitely wasn’t obnoxious noise, but some others have complained about it in their reviews so thought I’d give me opinion. The sites are full hook up and we had no issues with water, power or sewer during our 5 days over spring break. The campsite is upfront that their city provided water is not suitable for drinking, and many small beach communities have the same issues with water. Bring bottled water for coffee and cooking and you will be fine. Allyson manages the campground and did a great job answering any questions and she was available on property everyday. The owner, Bob Petty, is genuinely concerned with making sure everyone is having a great stay. I did not know he was the owner when he approached me and struck up a conversation to ask what I thought about the place. Very nice that he stays engaged with his guests. My wife and I stayed here with our 2 teenagers over spring break and everyone had fun. Most people are there with family and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I recommend this place and we have already booked a return visit in July. I’d say you can safely ignore any negative reviews, even though I know things don’t go great for every visitor every time, but that is just bad circumstances and not the fault of this or any other RV park...
Read moreFirst let me say, we booked a site the week before our intended arrival. We stayed Thursday through Sunday.
The good:
The bad:
I'll start with the positive, it is near the beach, 50 feet to the shoreline from the walkway. The registration staff is amazing and she is SOOO nice.
BTW, they have a no refund policy. Please read website carefully.
Now for the rest of the story. The owner obviously cannot care less about the property since it went up for sale. The sites nearest the ocean are unpaved, uneven and poorly maintained. DO NOT trust the pictures on the website. They must have been taken in better times. Once you book, or if you read through the website meticulously, you will discover they have a septic issue. The electric box at my site was rusted and missing safety blanks. The water connection was so loose I had to secure it with my own bungee. Ruts in the site made it difficult at best to level my trailer. Mosquitos are bad too, even in January. The entire campground is run down and in need of extensive repairs. I cannot comment on the restaurant as we didn't dine there.
PLEASE research carefully before booking...
