Important note: If you are a light sleeper, you may struggle with how thin the walls, ceiling, and floors are. I HIGHLY suggest getting a second-floor room - unless you are also heavy steppers xD. (plz be nice to people below you lol) INITIAL THOUGHTS: The close proximity to the beach makes this the PERFECT location for a hotel like this. Zero need to get your car filled with sand, there's a wonderful boardwalk to get you to the beach and back (along with hotel provided showers and feet washing stations at multiple points.) The public deck areas were really nicely positioned to overlook the beach. Lots of space, and having stayed during a Saturday/Sunday>checkout on Monday -> I can confirm it does get quite busy and quite loud. OFFICIAL ROOM REVIEW: #401 Hibiscus Honeymoon Room-King Bed-Shower/Tub Beautiful room, feels like a proper high-roller suite to be honest. Everything you could want or need in a room is there. There are two doors, one to access the inner/covered hallway and the other exits to your private deck. This private deck was by far my favorite part of this hotel. I cannot stress how amazing it was to sit out on that deck til' the early morning hours just listening to the waves and gazing at the stars. Water smelled absolutely god awful.. sulphur and sewage smell, most likely just the hard water & minerals with no real impact to health if ingested.. but the smell was bad enough I opted to just use waterbottles to brush my teeth. This room is right by one of the front entrances of the hotel, a curse more than a perk as the doorway to outside slams so loudly it shook my bed. It shook so violently I actually thought somebody had just kicked my bed lol. BUT, that's sunday checkout traffic.. so they were going to be loud regardless. OFFICIAL HOTEL REVIEW: Honestly a phenomenal location, with an even better staff to boot. Carla was amazing. Misty was amazing. The entire staff was so helpful and even called to inform me that I left my charger. I really appreciate all of the good that it completely outweighed the bad for me. Besides, I got a great deal on the room and I made a few great memories along the way. If you can get this room on a slow week, it might just be the Perfect Stay.

You go here because it's on the beach. It is ON THE BEACH!!!!! The room was clean and nice and a little musty, but it's ON THE BEACH. okay so the room is not on the beach. Our room was facing the parking lot but we could see the beach. And you walk down the hall to the end door and you are on a patio that faces the beach and the sidewalk that leads to the beach. It even has a little shower thing on that sidewalk to rinse your feet. The building we stayed in (it's the largest one with the word HOTEL on the roof) sounds as if it is made purely of metal with little sound proofing. If someone lets the end door close all the doors on that floor rattle. If there's a good breeze going when that hall door is opened you'll hear that too sucking the air out of your room. If someone talks in the hall it carries (no carpet helps that) and if someone runs in the hall everyone can hear and feel it. Now, if someone has a beach wedding there and then rents out the bottom space of your hotel for a reception, for example, you will feel every little vibration of the bass and the front desk really doesn't have an answer for when will the reception be over??? That's just one of the buildings. If you get room with 2 queens ask for an odd numbered room so you can be facing the beach more than the parking lot. Parking is tough if you get in later and make sure you put your parking pass in full view. Would I come back? At the right price, maybe. The noise sucked, but it was great to have a restaurant right there it was ON THE BEACH!!!

Unfortunately so much has changed and we’ve been visiting since 2014 -Negatives- - Our building was overbooked even though we reserved 3 months in advance - we were sent to a different building because a larger party wanted to stay together. (we later met them and found they reserved only a month before) -dirty linen, clothes left behind in made beds -given clean linen to make our own beds on arrival night -given cleaning supplies to clean bathroom that was dirty when we arrived - vehicles on beach, not safe -trash left from visitors in cars - cost went up -hospitality and atmosphere went down - staff was unpleasant —————-////////————- -Positives-3stars -6am Morning was clear and it felt like our old vacation spot -The cafe is much larger -Deck is still the best spot to relax - Under building showers still work great - parking was close We thought about returning for 2019 to give them the benefit of the doubt but we found a place on Jamaica Beach for a touch bit more but it’s a suite with 2 bedrooms and has a beach sectioned off for only guest. Thank you for the memories 2014-2018, I do hope you take reviews in consideration to exceed your business for other guest.

This is a two star hotel, at best.

My husband and the kids arrived before I did and checked in. He didn't know anything about the room I booked, so nothing was out of the ordinary to him. I arrived a few hours later and they met me out at the car. My daughter immediately asked me where everyone was going to sleep. I told her not to worry, that the couch pulled put to a bed and there would be plenty of room. It was then that I learned there was no couch and we had been given the wrong room.

I went to the front desk thinking that this would be an easy fix and I was very wrong. The young lady behind the counter is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. I explained the situation to her and she just looked at me and kind of sighed. I began to look for my confirmation email on my phone to show her, but she found it on her computer and proceeded to tell me that I did in fact book the room I thought, but the description on the website was wrong....for the price I paid, I should have gotten a double bed. I said I understood, but that was not my fault, I booked a room that could sleep 6 and was given a room that would only sleep 4. She told me that the hotel was completely booked up and there was nothing she could do and just kind of looked at me. No I'm sorry, nothing.

I asked for a rollaway bed and she said they did not carry them. Again she just looked at me. She didn't even offer extra blankets so I could make a pallet. I asked to speak to the manager and she said there was not one on site. I asked for a phone number where I could reach a manager and she pointed at the brochures on the desk. I was getting very frustrated at this point so I left the office.

I called the number on the brochure once outside and spoke with Donna I believe was her name. I told her the situation and she apologized and said to let her walk down to the front desk and see about getting us moved (guess there was manager on site....). She was very nice and professional so I felt a little better about the situation so my family and I decided to go get some dinner at the attached restaurant while we waited for our new room.

She never called me back.

After dinner, I attempted to call her and the phone went strait to voicemail. I went back to the office and told the lady behind the desk that I had spoken with the manager and she said she was going to find us a different room. The lady said that there was one double room available. I thought, Great!.. I can send the older kids to that room and everyone will have a place to sleep...but then she told me I would have to pay for the room.

Now at this point it's probably 9 at night and the room had not been reserved and probably would not be for the night. She had absolutely nothing to lose by giving us the room, but chose not to.

Her attitude remained in the same nonchalant style as it was from the moment I walked through the door. Frustrated, I left and headed back to the double room. I asked my husband to go back and get some extra blankets so I could make a pallet on the floor for the kids.

I tried to call the manager two or three times the next day and left messages. She never called me back.

We travel a lot and this is the worst place I have ever stayed.

Some additional things worth mentioning:

All the channels on the TV were fuzzy Saturday morning when we went to walk down to the beach I noticed no one cleaned up the area where they had karaoke the night before. There were beer bottles and half empty cocktails on all the tables. As a former server, I know all alcohol should have been picked up at 2 am. Would have been unfortunate if someone's little kids would have gotten...

2024 Second mini vacation. Stayed in building 2 this time, it has been newly renovated and was great. Beds are comfortable, unit has a sitting area with couch and flat screen TV, bedroom is very roomy with lots of storage and flat screen. The bathroom has a nice shelf to hold makeup and other essential and the shower has a ledge to hold shampoo, soap and any other shower needs. Totally updated. Only down side to this unit is during the week you get traffic noise. Solid waste truck comes at 4 am on Friday mornings, you hear each dumpster be dumped. The two rooms in this building are above house keeping, they receive a delivery around 6:30 am, not sure if it is every Friday.

The staff is still amazing, friendly and there to help with any question you have. Highly recommend this hotel. ………………………………… 2022 We needed a mini vacation and instead of going to our normal beach location we decided to try out Surfside Beach. Ocean Village Hotel was the perfect spot! Building three has been recently updated with fresh paint, bath fixtures and wood looking flooring. You cannot ask for a better location. A walk down the hall and a flight of stairs down and you are on the beach. The view from our balcony was amazing, no need to go out to the beach to snap pictures. The balcony off the front of the hotel made for great sunrise pictures. This building is a few steps down the boardwalk to the Sea Horse Grill, that I highly recommend, food was great with friendly staff.

The hotel staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the room was the best I have come across in a very long time. No need to go behind and clean before using.

The downside to the room we were in was the need of a bench or table to put our luggage on, it stayed on the floor. It had two chairs and a bookcase type piece of furniture with three drawers, and it held the refrigerator and microwave. The top of that piece of furniture was the only flat space in the room other than the nightstand. If you need to hang anything you would have to use the shower curtain rod. There is no closet in this room. It would also be nice if there was a sweep vac available due to sand being tracked in from the beach.

I still give five stars and will definitely...
