let me start by saying it is 2014 and racial profiling shouldn't still exist, but with this motel it does. I am about to tell you I experienced it first hand. called motel to see if had a room. lady stated they had a room for two. I told her I wanted to rent it. she asked how many people were coming. I told her that it would just be me staying in the room being my daughter lives in Houston and I am the only one who wants to stay. the others would be going back to Houston. she tells me she didn't believe me because "you people" always say its only going to be two people in the room and bring ten. she also went on to tell me that I could have no visitors and if they needed to use the bathroom they couldn't come in my room to do so due to problems with their septic tank system. I said so you are profiling me based off my color. she said no, I'm not profiling you I just know the problems I have with you people. she then puts a older man on the phone who listens to my complain and then asks me am I finished. had no concerns about how she conducted herself, no apologies for how I was made to feel and acted as if racial profiling was the normal practice for their property. not a place I would want to contribute my funds nor be around. I know they are from Texas and this is what is expected, but with that being said if that is how they do business it wont be with my money. and know if you are my people you are not welcome nor wanted at...

My family stayed at this motel the weekend of July 13, 2013. at bedtime we pulled our covers back to find the bed sheet, mattress pad and mattress soaked with urine. We called the office manger in to take a look. He accused us of peeing on the bed. The spread nor the blanket underneath was wet. I was very upset with him because he had a horrible attitude. He came back and disinfected the mattress and put on fresh linens and mattress cover. He never apologized. My card was never charged the rest of the balance for our weekend there. I thought this was his way of apologizing. Now, eight months later he has charged my card for the balance. I've called twice and he has yet to return my calls. I DON'T recommend this motel if you are a decent person with family wanting to spend a fun weekend at the beach. You will be better off staying somewhere else. In fact, I recommend Matagorda, Texas. There are plenty of decent and affordable motels there and the beach is beautiful and clean. WE PROMISE YOU WILL LIKE OUR PLACE OR ELSE. That's what is on their website. Hotel is extremely old and the new owners have invested a lot of money to renovate. That being said, the renovations are only minimal and I do believe the ground units have flooded in the past. I rented Apt 4 with 2 bedrooms and small kitchenette. I own a house just down the street and needed extra beds for family. The expense was reasonable and the pics online make the place look really good and accommodating. Beach rentals exist in extreme weather conditions and upkeep is expensive. This I know. We checked in with a keypad. The smell of OLD and MUSTY with an overtone of heavily sprayed pesticide was almost unbearable. After a couple hours you get used to it, ugh. There was a large hole in 1 bedroom ceiling tile which was concerning. Chest of drawers was missing 2 full drawers. Plumbing in shower was subpar and shower head was loose in the wall. I had high hopes for this place because of its proximity to my beach house. I most likely will not rent here again.
