The Exchange | Flea — Local services in Suttons Bay Township

We attended the Art Walk in Suttons Bay (October 19, 2018) and walked into The Exchange/Flea. We should have just walked right out when the older woman working demanded I shut the door even though there was someone walking in right behind me. As we were looking around we heard who I believe is the owner ask a customer “you’re not going to buy anything?” I was shocked but continued to look around the store. I saw something I wanted to purchase, even though I shouldn’t have based on the behavior of the employees, when a woman walked in with a cup of coffee and the older woman working rudely told her that there are no open containers in the store. The Art Walk provides various wine in each participating store so my boyfriend and I wanted to try the wine they were carrying, the lady ID’d us because we do look younger. As we were leaving the store the SAME older woman yelled out to my boyfriend “young man are you 21?” We kindly responded that yes he was, almost 23 and she made yet another comment “did the wine lady ID you? you sure don’t look 21.” Her tone of voice was so rude and nasty. I tried to be nice but told her yet again “yes, he’s almost 23 thank you”. We finally left the store and I will NEVER return.

Also, their clothing is extremely expensive and not at all worth the price. I would suggest never...

The owner of this store is one of the most ignorant and nasty people I’ve ever encountered. Art Walk evening we entered her store and approached the counter for a signature on our card, excited to see the store. She signed and responded “Are you going to buy something?” I replied my aren’t you rude this evening. She followed me and asked me if I wasn’t happy to kindly leave her store. My husband and I exited immediately. I felt sorry for the sweet lady working with her who apparently was...

This is one of my favorite stores in Suttons Bay. The clothing is very high quality and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I like that they remember me every time I come in and they remember what I like. That’s great customer service. I work at another local business and always send people to the exchange that ask “where should we shop?” Also, they have the best handbags...
