It's very unfortunate that I feel the need to leave this review, however, it appears it's the only option left, as a customer, to express my disappointment at what Lazarus did to me. I recently moved to the area and really liked the store at first. I came in just about every (or most) weekends and would spend $150+ every time I came in to do my part in supporting a local store.
A bit after the new edition of Horus Heresy was released, I came in and saw a display of the new releases on their new release table and I've been wanting to play the game. I grabbed the rulebook off the new release table that was alongside all the other new releases and bought it to plan out building an army. It was $70. A $70 useless paper weight. They put the old edition rulebook out with the new releases. I had no idea. They don't put what edition it is on the cover, so I took it home, opened it and didn't realize it was the old edition until I started noticing oddities in the rules and comparing to what other people were saying about the game.
I reached out and was given a customer support email to contact. The first email I guess was ignored. I followed up again and the response is below. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT WAS THEIR FAULT IN WHAT WENT WRONG. And yet, they will not return/replace the book. They put out a useless old edition book with the new releases and I am the sucker that wasted $70 buying it and now they won't take responsibility for it.
I pushed a little more and was told it would be escalated to the owner. Not a word since. I've followed up multiple times and haven't received a word back. That was 16 days ago and still no answer.
What's crazy is, I even pointed out that I wanted to buy an army for the game, which would cost HUNDREDS of dollars and more. Now, I'm not going to spend a penny there.
Yea, $70 bucks isn't huge. I can afford it. But the insult of putting an old, useless book on the shelf that I can't use, selling it for the price of the new book and then saying "Yea, our bad. But you're stuck with it" is too much. It is beyond insulting.
I recommend people take this into consideration when purchasing from game stores. There's lots of options out there, especially online. Why buy from a store that would do this...
Read moreJust came back there and amazed at the selection. Anthony was VERY helpful and friendly. Some good points.
The selection was amazing. MUCH better than some other stores coughbluemoongamingcough.
Anthony walked us out to our car due to the size of the order. I never had that happen before with any other game shop.
Anthony deserves extra mention. Most every other game store I've ever been in, the clerk is either doing something with his own game collection (usually a CCG) or just flat ignores us until we push the issue of wanting to be served. Anthony did neither of these. He was very friendly and helpful and honestly, deserves to have the "to the" removed from his title. ;)
Only 2 issues that I see.
There was no wheelchair access ramp there. I know that they are doing revisions, so hopefully this will be corrected eventually (though I don't know if there is enough space for a wheelchair in there).
While Anthony was very efficient and friendly, I do believe that he forgot to give us a receipt. This would be an issue if we had to return any games we bought.
Overall, I can't give a 5 star review with these issues, but if you are looking for a great game store (and you aren't in a wheelchair), please do visit. You won't be disappointed.
EDIT: Anthony did promptly email me the receipt and made it right. Thank...
Read moreI have done 3 separate Pokémon orders with Lazarus Games and on all three occasions I have either received incorrect cards or fakes. Their prices and atmosphere are great but my most recent purchase left a sour taste in my mouth.
I came into the store an hour before close and was selecting cards to purchase at their computer. After about 20 minutes I was about to submit the order when I was asked by the person at the register if I was “getting a lot of cards” to which I said yes about 30. They replied to me shocked at the number and told me not to purchase them as they were closing soon, although closing was still out a half hour. Honestly it felt quite embarrassing, was unprofessional, and after my previous 2 experiences with the fake cards I’m not sure if I’ll be back.
I ended up purchasing 4 singles and when I was handed them one of them was the incorrect version, fine, sure, it happens. I already felt like I wasn’t welcome but the cherry on top was that it wasn’t removed from my bill, even after I said I’ll pass on it and it was put away.
I’ve never been dissuaded to make a purchase at a game store, especially such a large one. I ended up spending half of what I was originally going to. Not sure what happened but it wasn’t a...
