I have been to this theatre a few times in the last 13 years. Today, my wife and I brought our two kids (8 and 4) to see Cars 3. After purchasing tickets and popcorn, my son and I went to the bathroom. I was shocked by the plentitude of sensual photos of women on the wall of the men's bathroom. This is supposed to be a "family-friendly" theatre in small, quaint downtown Sycamore. At best, these photos are distasteful and no doubt perpetuate the perspective of women as enticing, sexual objects.
I kindly and gently spoke to the manager immediately after exiting the bathroom. I told her that I thought the photos were inappropriate for a family theatre like this. Without hesitation, she was staunchly defensive. "All the women are clothed," she said. "I've been here 10 years, and no one has ever brought that up," she continued.

Read moreThis was my first time here and I am thankful they exist. Sycamore Theater was playing 2 films I've heard about and have been wanting to watch for years! I really enjoyed both and got their flamin hot popcorn which was great! I liked how they had a variety of popcorn flavors you don't normally see anywhere else. The only downside for me was the seats were old school and didn't recline or lean back at all so after 2 movies my back and neck were hurting but it was worth it. The bathrooms were clean and working so no complaints there. The 2 employees were also nice and welcoming so I had a good time here. Thank you guys for playing classics(for $5!!!) and not just new films. I will be back if there is another older film I have not yet seen...
Read moreI took my kids to see the Minecraft movie on Mother’s Day. My son is autistic and when we walked into the theatre he started freaking out. He became extremely anxious and emotional. The lady working heard him freaking out and came into the theatre and told us she would turn the lights up and the volume down. He then said he wanted to sit in the black leather chair so she brought the chair from the lobby over to the theatre and sat it right outside the doors and left the doors open. We were the only people in the theatre but that little act of kindness meant so much to me. I was so grateful for her and we were all able to enjoy the movie. I wish more people would be open and accommodating to special needs children...
