I had a balloon ride about 20 years ago in Temecula and it was a great experience. But this June’s ride with Cielo turned out to be an unexpected ordeal. We got up at 4am and arrived at meeting place before 5am. Instead of getting a balloon ride there, we were placed into a van. We were told they need to find a launch site because of the fog. It was an uncomfortable ride. Nobody told us where we were going and how long it’s going to take. After more than a half hour drive, we finally stopped at a hill top. And then we waited and waited. Nobody came to tell us what’s going on. And nobody asked if anyone wanted to get out of the van to get some fresh air. At this time my two kids already felt sick. After a lengthy wait, we finally got into the basket and the balloon got launched. At first we were excited. But then the disappointment set in. Unlike the ride 20 years ago, when we flow over vineyards and had really good view, this time we were in the middle of a wilderness, with not much good to see. The worst thing is ever since the ascending, the pilot began to talk to the ground staff on his walkie-talkie, looking for a landing spot. So he had no time to entertain his guests. We were just going up and down in the air, looking at the same boring landscape. The ride supposed to last 45 minutes. By that time we all got exhausted and longed to land. But the pilot just couldn’t land the balloon. He was constantly on his walkie-talkie, directing the ground staff. Those poor guys drove around and around. After one hour, we saw other balloons landed. And guests in our basket all started to get nervous. With strong wind and heat, lack of views, feelings of tiredness and fear of do-not-know-when-can-land, a ride suppose to be enjoyable became a long suffering. We were all eager to get out. After about an hour and half’s drifting, we finally landed in a field with knee-height grass and bushes. We were all exhausted but had a kind of happy feeling of being rescued. Getting back to the uncomfortable van, we had to wait another 15 minutes for them to pack up the balloon, and another half hour to drive back. We all felt released when we got back into our own car. Never expected to spend $800 and have this...
Read moreWe had a wonderful and amazing time on our first hot air balloon ride on Sunday September 21st to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The whole experience was very organized and Our pilot Josh and the crew were great. There was such a calmness when the balloon started to go higher. You could barely feel it moving. The sunrise was so beautiful and colorful. It was so clear and we could see the beautiful wineries, lake, mountains and other balloons flying in the sky. There were 11 passengers plus the pilot and everyone we met was so nice. We felt very safe and can now check this off our bucket list. We can't wait until our granddaughter is old enough to experience this with us. My only suggestion is if you are celebrating something and want to have the banner added to the basket for pictures you will need to make sure to ask them. I had requested it when I made the reservation but forgot to ask about it until we were already in the sky. It didn't affect our experience at all. After the flight you get mimosas or orange juice and little bundt cakes which were nice treat. We would definitely recommend Cielo balloons to...
Read moreWe had a an amazing experience!!! I googled hot air balloon rides before I actually booked with them & read the reviews…he was the best choice! And I chose RIGHT!!! From start to finish was GOOD! The cheerful receptionist who booked us over the phone to Joe flying us through the air to see the sunrise & the view of Wine Country but last but not least the crew who helped us along the way as we arrived and departed! I was scared but quickly calmed because the ride is so smooth! They explained to us what we were seeing and told us about the original hot air balloon ride which they called it the first human flight! The history of the first successful landing with the champagne toast etc… When you understand the history you really appreciate the toast at the end!! Oh and let’s not forget about THE NOTHING BUNDT CAKES😋 Best experience ever!!! 😊 Thanks you to you and your team! We will definitely recommend your services to...
