This place is amazing – a total surprise finding the best geek and game store I’ve ever visited, and finding it located on a strip full of yoga studios, art galleries, and vegan cafes. I don’t say best geek and game store lightly either. The Adventure Guild had a large selection of many of the current strategy, family, and roll-playing games. There were collectable cards, equipment to sculpt and paint figures, and rooms available to rent to play campaigns with your friends. Not only that, but there are drinks, and the décor is tastefully geeky . . . it’s honestly everything a lover of game-oriented pop culture could ever want. The proprietor was really nice too, not elitest like the stereotype dude from the Simpsons; he honestly seemed to be genuine. I don’t mind recommending good places, but The Adventure Guild shoots way past good or great, and into the realm of ‘awesome.’ If you visit Thomas, stop by and check it out. If you are outside the area, seriously consider making a trip to The Adventure Guild -- plan a gaming weekend with some...
Read moreThis is one of the best boardgame shops I've visited. It has a great mix of boardgames, CCG, wargames, and tabletop RPGs. I only really care about the boardgames and tabletop, but I appreciate that this shop makes it all available.
When I see a boardgame store I've never been to, I love to pop in and see if there is anything I haven't seen before. Adventure Guild has a great mix of games I hadn't seen before and BGG classics.
They also had a great spread of tabletop RPG resources, including a lot of newer releases like Old Gods of Appalachia.
I was just passing through, but there is also a ton of play space, which I can't really comment on but I thought others should know. If you are just visiting the area, definitely stop by because this shop has a ton of the top ranked games on Board Game Geek (which is another great resource if you're new to boardgames).
Hope to come...
Read moreThis is a very nice little shop! I was surprised to know that a LGS was opening in Thomas. It's a small place, but they have a nice selection of products and the prices are fair. Staff was pleasant enough, maybe a little standoffish at first, but friendly and helpful. Don't expect a full-blown set of cases full of singles, but they have some and they have a very wide variety of other tabletop games and some play space. My only complaint is that I often come through town on Mondays and thats the one day they're not open (my problem), so I don't get to go in as much as I'd like!! The wave of business and change that has happened here since I was a kid in the 80s and 90s is incredible, but I never thought that I'd see a game store when I was traveling a literal hundred miles to buy packs of 4th edition! Craw...
