Ordered a few books on ABEbooks, including one from.this seller. Order went through, payment accepted and I was waiting for it to arrive. Went back to check when running late as all my others arrived to find they just cancelled it, according to the site for being unavailable. Oh well, hit look for similar and theres the exact same book, same description, same pic, grade and price, same aeller, except now with apparent shipping. After days of dealing with ABE's laughable overseas email only office, the best they would offer is "Its frustrating to get orders cancelled" and that it was up to me to contact and find out what their problem was. I've since ordered it through another vendor, got tired of waiting to be acknowledged as most were auto responses that they obviously found one key word and hit reply with their presaved text with just a different name attached.. On ABE, who only apparently rates by number of completed deliveries in timely manner they only had a 3 star. I'll research before hitting buy in future. it shouldn't take a couple of weeks to try and buy a book, much less do all the customer service...
Read moreThis was a really neat bookstore. My sister and I went on a girls trip to Shipshewana and didn’t realize everything closed at 5pm, so we decided to skip over to Michigan and check out this bookstore. I’m so glad we did! A lot of the prices were crazy, but the newish used books were fair. I did splurge and buy one of the expensive books but I couldn’t help myself-it was a beautiful book with the ribbed spine. I wish I had a whole bookcase of books like that. The older gentleman and young lady were very friendly and helpful. The only bad thing about the place was how much money we dropped there! 😬🙄😂 I definitely recommend going. They had like four rooms of books, shelves so close you could barely get down them (all the better to fit more books in, my dear 🐺) and even a downstairs. Next time we come up here I’ll have to have a list of my home library titles and what I want to add so I can find...
Read moreAs you wind the twists and turns of this three building long brick and mortar business, you feel a sense of empowerment from the mass volumes of knowledge overstuffed and tucked away into every nook and cranny. From selections of new books and used, as well as every genre you can think of, Lowry's Books is one of those businesses that's easy to get lost in, yet you don't want to leave. Just bring a cup of coffee, pull a book off the shelf, and find a hidden corner to just indulge yourself with some much needed peace and quiet. The only drawback that I found was their new books are a bit on the pricey side, but with so many selections this bookstore is truly beneficial to the Three Rivers community. I would suggest getting a store card, every hundred dollars you spend, you get ten dollars off on your next purchase. Which if you're like me, you will receive coupon after...
