Cabela's — Local services in Tilden Township

I have came to this location multiple times to buy a firearm. Over the course of the three times that I came to this Hamburg location, I have waited a minimum of 3 hours and this last time pushing 6 hours.

After asking questions over the course of these three times I have gotten clarification:

Step one wait in line to look at, select or pick up an online order.

Step two Fill out the computer background check application.

Step three Wait your turn in line, for them to get to your firearm, on the counter. The line works from the left to the right so if you see a lot of guns expect a wait.

**Now this is where I want to bring clarification to their process -you filled out the background check, using the computer. -Cabela's does not submit the background check until they get to your gun, in the physical line. -for this step your probably be in line for anywhere from 45 minutes (at the least) to about 2-3 hours or even more.

Step four They file the background check which takes on a good day about 15 minutes.

• during this time, is where all the wasted time is spent. It seems that the person at the counter is waiting by the computer to see if you get approved, if you do great! But you could be put into pending, if your put into pending then they put your firearm and paperwork on the back shelf, and move onto another customer. Then after they finish with their next customer a Cabela's worker will check to see if any of the pending people are approved, and grab that persons firearm and paper work and finally move to the next step.

Step five You sign your name to their computer as well as sign their safety waver with 3 questions and get a "double double" a coworker checking the information that was entered on the screen. Normally about 10-15 minutes

Step six They put your gun back on the other side of the counter. At this point you think your in the home stretch, wrong. There is typically one or two people checking over all the paperwork on average this takes about 10 minutes per gun in line. So if you see 6 other firearms figure you have about 30 minutes to 1 hour before you can finally get checked out.

Step seven You pay and finally you get to leave

Now I'd like to give my criticisms

1- there is not enough chairs. *you often see people leaning on the skids of products and display racks. Elderly people not having any availability of seats. If you were lucky enough to get a seat, when you get called up to the desk your most likely loose your seat.

You can be here for hours and I mean hours I was here for 6 hours today. they do not supply water, or have vending machines with snacks, or even a simple water fountain and the bathroom is in the front of the store, combined with the lack clarification as to their whole process. You think it'll just be a little longer and try and hold it. Along with the fear that if you leave to go in search of something or the bathroom you'll be called and loose your place in line.

There is no explanation of the process. You are lead to believe that the wait time is because of the background check. But the main wait is waiting your turn in line to get to the back ground check. ** there has to be a more streamlined way.

Their should be a screen letting you know your place in line, as well as the status of your background check, and an estimated time. So that you can go and browse the store, find refreshments and use the bathroom.

The counter people not calling names Loud enough. **I've been through this process a decent amount of time and have hours of people waiting. Some time the workers will look at the ID and see the person and keep calling the name to soft and then stand there and...

I like the concept of Cabela’s. I have visited it multiple times with my children. However, I was not happy at all this weekend. This weekend was my worst experience to date. I visited the store with friends and family on both Saturday and Sunday.

From walking in the door to getting back to the Archery section on Saturday, we were approached several times by Associates if we wanted to sign up for a credit card. Upon getting back to the Archery Section, we were asked again if we were credit card club members and advised by the Associate that he only services those members. Despite his opening line, he did end up helping us and answering some questions but he would go no further unless we signed up for a Credit Card.

It should be noted that Cabela’s needs to do a deep cleaning. As we walked through the Archery Section, one could smell a pungent odor. That same odor was present during Sundays visit too. It was disgusting.

I left Cabela’s Archery on Saturday to visit several other sports stores. Upon returning to the Archery Section on Sunday I noted that Cabela’s Crossbows were 20-30% higher in price than it’s competitors for the exact same items. The overall experience within this Section has convinced me to take my business elsewhere for Archery equipment.

As for your Firearm Section, I returned on Sunday with the hopes of purchasing pistols and rifles for both me and my wife. I waited in the que and waited my turn. Upon approaching the Associate, I advised him that I was interested in comparing the Stoeger vs Glock which he was not very helpful and did not provide any information other than me holding the firearms. I further explained to him that I wanted to start hunting this season as a hobby and that I needed guidance. I caught the Associate rolling his eyes at me several times and sighing during my encounter with him. He was also speaking very loud with body language and demeanor that felt like he was talking down to me and lacked patience with me He made the experience highly uncomfortable so I decided again that we will take our business elsewhere.

Cabela’s had there chance of thousands in sales this weekend and blew every chance with me, my friends, and family. We were actually prepared to buy. Our recommendation is that the Associates need a Customer Service Reminder that Cabela’s is there to answer questions, provide education, and teach the various levels of amateur to experienced outdoors men and women. They are the first line of promoting the preservation of outdoors activities for our future generations. As a result, we will in turn take our business to a local Mom and Pop Shop and support their family versus the Corporate America Attitude and overpriced items. We are truly...

My son and I walked in at 7:58pm because the hours on Google said that they close at 9pm. I was yelled at as soon as I walked in "we close in two minutes."

I apologized and explained what I saw on Google and they said they have winter hours, they close at 8. They then said Google is wrong because none of the customers that show up after hours notify Google of their winter hours. Well folks, that's not the job of your customers; if you know that a mass of your customers are showing up after hours because of Google, YOU should notify Google.

I didn't feel like arguing so I simply explained that I knew what I wanted, a Vortex scope (not cheap) and that I could grab it and leave. I was promptly told to "hurry up."

I went to the gun counter where the scopes are and asked for some help. Two store associates approached and one rudely informed me 'WE'RE CLOSED.' I was standing 24 inches from the scope, it's behind the counter, so I asked if I could buy it and the other associate helped me out.

I worked retail years ago; the doors lock at closing time but you don't actually close the store until the last customer gives you their money.

You should also treat customers like they're paying every one of your bills, because we are. Respect is not only due, it's industry standard. Without customers, your store will close, your abrasive and arrogant employees will find themselves in the job market where their attitudes won't work. The service culture there is trashy, there's a widespread willingness to be rude.

That's the last dollar I'll ever give that store and that organization. There's not a single thing they sell that can't be bought cheaper online; it can be delivered right to your door without a bunch of rude retail workers dressed in safari gear treating you like just stepped off the bus at...
