It was 11:52pm on February 13th 2021, the year of our Lord. When I bolt into The Russell Stover store with purpose, one purpose to get my wife a corny St. Valentine's Day card and any old box of chocolates. That's when I saw it, or I should say it saw me, among the graveyard of forgetable sweets entombed in right angled coffins, was a glimmer of hope. A shimmer of a better future an opportunity to show my wife of 27 years I am not a forgetful, impotent, oaf. I reached out and grabbed it, The Russell Stover Sequins Heart. It was terrifyingly beautiful, this gorgous heart looked like 1,000 angel sunsets glittering beckoning me to take her home. I grabbed the first card i saw, made my way to the checkout where i purchased my queen. On the drive home I knew that this was my chance to make this Valentine's Day extra special for both of us. The velvety chocolate was for my wife ofcourse, but the box would hold something even more delicious. A message I dare not utter, and I wouldn't have to, the chocolate vessel would...
Read moreThe store is not very welcoming to people of color. My kids and I was in the store on 08/05/2023. While my son and I was looking for some chocolates my little daughter accidentally knocked over 3 chocolates immediately we went over to help her, a sales clerk also came over to help her but then the manager came over an asked the sales clerk if she was ok, like my poor little kid was going to hurt her. Then the manager proceeded to follow us all over the store and didn't let any of the store clerks service us by now I was getting very annoyed but didn't want my poor kids to feel alienated. The manager was sweating all over gross to say the least but she was overly worked up over us. Color people seems to be a lot for this manager. I love the store but unless I have my white friend with us we are definitely not visiting this Hamburg store again. So sad what people...
Read moreStopped to shop at Russell Stover candy store in Hamburg, PA. Big mistake! There is a back room with lots of unsold candy. We bought a box of bloopers. Big Mistake! Our problem is we didn't look at the expiration date on the box. Paid $12.49 for a box of candy that can't be eaten. When we got home and opened the box it was stale, gray and so very old looking. The box stated it had expired in 2021. It may have been stored badly to add to the problem or was older than the box stated. We threw the candy away after trying one piece and finding it tasted horrible and would never eat it. There were no signs stating that the candy boxes were out dated and old. There were pallets of these candy boxes. Many pallets full to top with bloopers. I don't care if they are not perfect but can't eat a gray, tasteless, awful piece of chocolate....
