Pat's Food Center — Local services in Tittabawassee Township

I only go there if I'm in a pinch and need something quick. They have the basic small town grocery items that any other store has but in my opinion some items are just ridiculously priced. I Have not been to impressed with ANY products from the "fresh" meat section. I can buy the same amount by weight of one meat product at Pat's the go to another fresh 'meat market"....(intentionally not inserting other markets name)....and get the same product for cheaper and it seems better quality and usually more juicy, tender and just overall better. Dont take what I wrote to heart. Im no grocer evaluation professional, I'm sure there are many people who would disagree. Just my personal opinion. We have lived here in Freeland for over 35 years. For those that complain that prices are higher than Walmart or Kroger, this is a family owned - not a corporate - store. Pat's cannot buy the bulk that the big chain stores can. Also, keep in mind they don't have the same amount of customers for the perishable products. However, you can't go to the big box stores and be treated like family the way they do here. If there is something I like or need, they will special order it and, if I purchase a case, they give a discount. Everyone cried when Terry retired. Stan helped us get the word out about our new sewing machine business. You just can't find help like this. Experienced racial profiling at its best. Went through Self Check out where this older gentleman stood over my whole process and asked did I scan my water which I stated yes then I proceeded to continue with my check out and he had the audacity to tell me I did not scan the item which clearly showed on the screen. I wanted to give him a piece of my mind so I left the store and called the store and asked for the manager and spoke to her and she said he was one of their best employees. The way this man was hovering over me was so offensive it makes me sick. Shopping while being a person of color.
