This was my first spot on the TacoMania Food Fight trail. I chose this spot because it's about 5 minutes from my work.
The place is small. If you don't look carefully you would miss it. BUT DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE because I had a most delicious experience here.
Dave the owner was there at the register. Super nice, very informative and I let him chose what tacos I should get. He could not recommend the El birria tacos enough. They were an extra $1.75 each but less than $2 each for the tacos I got? Worth EVERY penny!
The place although small was brightly lit and clean. Everything was organized and neat. They have a cute selfie grass wall and Mexican music was bumping out of the speakers. Although they don't have a lot of seating, it is the kind of place I could hang at all day long.
Now for the tacos. I never had birria before and this was on another level. Think birria meets street corn. Esquites are stuffed into the tortilla with traditional birria meat and then seared to perfection. Probably the messiest taco I've ever eaten but they gave me extra napkins (without asking) so no complaints from me! The meat was so tender and juicy, the esquites added creaminess, the corn provided some additional texture. I would go back and pay full price any time for these. And I am so glad they are right down the road from work, That means I'll...
Read moreOh, how I loved the folks who worked behind the counter; friendly and talkative. We had to sit outside and wait for our order because it was crowded inside. We waited nearly 30 mins for 2 dinner plates and our food was brought out bagged for takeout. I eagerly dove into my El Berria tacos and they were amazing! I was shocked that my rice and beans were cold, seriously. More disappointment when my husband went to try his beloved enchiladas and they were cold; they were not Mexican style either, nor were the refried beans. More like Dominican or Puerto Rican prepared red kidney beans. We had no choice but to stop eating because who wants cold food? My husband went inside to tell them everything was cold before we left and they only said maybe next time they'll put the sauce on the rolled up tortilla with meat they referred to as enchiladas for the cheese to melt. No offers to make another plate or even to warm it up. Total...
Read moreAbsolutely a hidden gem!!!!! I can't say enough on how good the El Birria tacos are. So darn good!!!! I live roughly an hour away from this place. I found it from participating in Tacomania, via RI Food Fights. My wife and I, along with our dog, went for a drive and decided to stop by. I'm sooooo glad we did!!! Such a warm and friendly reception and atmosphere. They even went out of their way to make our dog a taco!!!! That taco didn't stand a chance!!! Gone within seconds. Haha. I'm a big Birria fan. They put their own little twist to their El Birria tacos that will not leave you disappointed. We will definitely be back and if we lived closer, this would be a staple of our...
