I visited the Topeka area from Kansas City and had Soul Fire noted as one of the food options I wanted to check out. It didn't disappoint! I wanted to try a variety of meats, and the gentleman running the counter was patient with me as we figured out how to structure my order to try several different foods in small quantities.

I enjoyed all the different meats, and think the pulled pork was especially good. I mixed in extra BBQ sauce with chunks of rib meat, and it blended wonderfully :) Also, the baked beans were just the right amount of spicy for me, with a thick meaty flavor that you'd expect from a BBQ place.

My partner and I were passing through Topeka on a cross country road trip and decided to stop in. We ordered rib tips, cheesy potato mash, coleslaw, and fry bread with warm honey. The cheesy potato mash was a 50/50 ratio of cheese to potatoes (no complaints here) and had a little spice and acid kick from chunks of roasted peppers. The coleslaw had a healthy sprinkle of celery seed, not too much mayo, and the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch. Let me say this... I had a plan of getting some smoked wings and put them in the air fryer because I love a good crispy skin on a naked wing. I bought a slab of ribs with plans to drop them in the pressure cooker. Usually, ribs from commercial eateries have a little too much tear to them. While I don't need them fall off the bone tender, but a good bite should get them free. My plan was happily ruined as both the wings and the ribs were PERFECTION, based on how I like them!!!
