I went to cheap Sam's and saw two trees that I loved. I spoke to someone there that stated if I needed it planted it was $125 which was clearly typed out on both tags which I have photos of. later on that day I called to place an order but I was told to call back that they were to busy so when I called back the next day they were closed so I called back on Tuesday the sales person which was very friendly on the phone said she would then have the trees pulled and that they would call me back on Wednesday Which she never did I had to call back again to pay for the order. I wanted delivery and planting as well. The tree was $379.98 plus the $125 planting fee which is a 3rd of the price of tree which they charge for their tree planting which I have tags of other trees to prove that as well! So when placing the order they didn’t realize I had the tag a picture of it from the grounds when I went and they tried to charge me $190 for planting and when I said no way that the tag stated $125 the sales lady put me on hold then said that they made a mistake with both tags that everything was right on it except for the planting fee which was wrong! It was false advertisement number one and they tried to get one off on me so I would be now paying half of the trees price to plant makes no sense when all their other trees are a third so I would be paying $379.98 plus $190 for the planting and delivery is another $100 not including taxes. So getting the round around for a couple of days for them to try to get one over me I said no i didn’t want it anymore because it was wrong for what they were doing! Instead of honoring the price on both tags for planting and doing the right thing they hung up on me! I'm trying to post a picture of the tag but Google...
Read moreI went to Sam's to purchase replacement shrubs for a small area in front of my townhouse. Went to cashier first to ask for help choosing plants that would fit my scenario. She said she would send someone to section 15 which is where most of the things I was looking for were located. Nothing I described to her (small compact shrubs) was located in section 15 and no one ever came to help. My daughter and I went looking in other sections attempting to locate what we needed. Asked for help identifying smaller shrubs and was told that they were too busy to help. We were told very rudely to "read the tags!" We picked out some stuff and Santiago ended up being very helpful answering a few questions and helped us load and get plants moved to the sold area. When we went to pay Carri was rude and abrasive. We asked questions about the loyalty club so that I could hopefully save on a future purchase. She never offered to sign me up and seemed annoyed that I wanted to be signed up. She gave me a loyalty card and I asked to have today purchase added for points. She said she didn't have time to do it, someone else would do it. Getting information on how my landscaper would pick up order the following day was like pulling teeth. She was so annoyed I was asking questions. After spending 650 on 8 plants I wanted a little assurance that I would actually receive the ones I picked out but the customer service was so lacking that I decided it best not to ask anymore questions. I don't like to spend my hard earned money where it's not appreciated. I doubt I will get the loyalty points and probably won't be going back anyway. It seems they get enough landscapers so there is no time for "regular" customers...
Read moreWith little knowledge of landscaping I went in search of plants for a beach house on Fire Island. After going to Fantastic Gardens (very cool but not the right fit for my search), the clerk there recommended Sam’s. Although I had seen this online, I was put off by the lack of reviews, poor website, and the name.
Do not judge a plant nursery by its title, for this place was hardly a bargain (not that I have a clue what plants usually cost). However, as soon as I arrived it was clear I was in the right spot.
I was immediately given a printout of salt tolerant plants as well as guidances on where to find them. It’s a large property you can browse by driving or on foot. It would have been nice if someone was willing to walk around and help me locate the items on my list, but I eventually found exactly what I was looking for.
Roseanne was the women who assisted me, and luckily for me she was not only knowledgeable about plants, but also ferry policy. She informed me they are not allowed on the passenger boat (no one seems to know why but the ferry service confirmed this), and that I would have to disguise them. She then continued to assist me both in providing packaging material and wrapping up the plants. I got the feeling this was not a typical request nor part of her job description, but nevertheless I smuggled these plants over and with any luck they’ll last for many years to come (and yes, I’ll be calling my lilac bush Rosanne for as long...
