My Experience at Hunter Business School MOA
While being out of College for almost 10 years and you could imagine my fear of returning back to school was very nerve racking. I have been working in health care for 10 years and when I got let go of my position of Director of Recreation I wasn’t able to find work anywhere so I dabbled on going back to school. I called and made an appointment to speak to a Representative about the course offered here at Hunter. I met with Mike in admissions and we went over the course offered and that financial aid was available if needed, which I did. After meeting with Mike and finding out more about the billing and coding classes I was set to go back to school. Although I was swayed to attend the 6month day program instead of the 3 month night course. I’m happy I did the day course because I have met a lot of great women but I also would have liked the opportunity to be able to work fulltime and go to school at night then not being able to work. My first day at hunter was very scary as I was never a great student always just passes to get by. When I met the instructors and started learning I was like a sponge and just soaked it all up and now have a 3.8 GPA. The way the instructors teach is so different then what I was use to from college and high school. Hunter has a different feeling then being in college. I feel the instructors are so willing to help a student pass rather than thinking of you as a body in a class making the school money. I have had some pretty awesome teachers. Kathleen, Billy Mac and Erica just to name a few are out of this world. They are so knowledgeable in their field of expertise and have taught me more than I thought I would lean in school. They all deserve a raise and a pat on the back for a job well done. I have taken a lot of classes in this program that I already knew how to use and I have come out learning even more SKILLZ and things I did not know about the programs. Although all of my classes have been great and I have learned a lot in each and every one of them I do feel that the MOA curriculum needs to be revamped, also some of the Microsoft classes need to be revamped. I feel that a double period of IDC/ CPT Coding & a double period of Billing would be a great help to gain more knowledge in a field we want to have a career in. I do feel that some classes over lap and are repetitive. KB2 A/B and MO 2 & 3 are two different classes that overlap. In both classes you are taught tables, columns, tabs. In MO 2 & 3 the only thing I didn’t already know how to do from KB2 A/B was Mail Merge. I feel that the dress code and cell phone usage should also be enforced more. I have noticed that students will wear workout gear to classes and also will be on their phones while in class. My overall experience at Hunter was good minus some hiccups along the way with some of...
Read morei had a difficult time deciding whether or not to go to this school due to the fact that there were absolutely no reviews on it. luckily, i decided to just go for it, and i'm really glad i did. hunter is an amazing school. it's a small building with a lot to offer. i'm currently a full-time student taking the medical assistant course in medford and I LOVE IT and always tell people how thankful i am i didn't choose any other program. this is the only legitimate school that is ACCREDITED and teaches you everything you need to know in a reasonable span of time. the teachers are awesome, i have an amazing class, there's barely any homework, there are a lot of breaks, the staff is as helpful as possible and genuinely cares about your education, and it's a very relaxed and comfortable environment. what's especially great about it is that the classes are only four weeks long so you don't have enough time to get sick or bored of the material. i've suffered from extremely debilitating anxiety for years and was originally completely terrified to further my education and be in a classroom for 6 hours a day after dropping out of high school and college, but hunter has become my second home and i really and truly love going to school. i hope my review is helpful for anyone who is considering pursuing a job in the medical field because this is definitely the place to start. i honestly wouldn't want to be...
Read moreI’ve been studying at Hunter’s Medford Campus since early November and absolutely loved the school, staff and the classes I’ve taken to date both in classroom and on line. I’m halfway through their 600 hour course to be a Medical Office Admimistrator and can honestly say that I am very impressed with the instructors we’ve had so far. They’re knowledgeable about the subjects they’re teaching and have the talent to explain the material in multiple ways to ensure the students all understand the content and concepts completely.
The staff at every level at Hunter is extremely open and friendly, which enables the students to feel comfortable to ask for help if needed. The staff is also continually checking in with all of the students to make sure everything is going well and there are no concerns. Hunter also has multiple morale boosting social activities timed throughout the year, usually involving food and/or costumes to allow everyone to mingle, relax and enjoy a little social time together periodically.
The entire Hunter experience, in my opinion, has been wonderful. It combines the best aspects of the academic, social and business worlds into one concise package to prepare students for a career in the medical world. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in...
