Stewart's — Local services in Town of Colonie

Absolutely ridiculous experience at Stewart’s. After a long day, I went with my father so he could grab a case of beer. At checkout, the cashier demanded my ID — even though I wasn’t the one buying alcohol. I didn’t have my ID with me, so I said fine, I’ll just put back what I was buying. But even then, they refused to let my father — a grown man buying his own things — complete his purchase.

For the record, I’ve been to this Stewart’s multiple times to buy alcohol, and they’ve never carded me. Suddenly today, it’s “policy”? The cashier even said, “We card if you look under 30,” — which makes absolutely no sense. The legal drinking age is 21, not 30. If it’s really a policy, card everyone every time, not just when you feel like it. Pick a rule and stick to it.

What’s worse is they didn’t even bother explaining anything. If my dad left and came back alone, would he still be banned from buying his own alcohol because I had been seen with him earlier? How long does he have to wait — an hour, a day, a week? Nobody had an answer. They just made a snap judgment and stuck to it. Completely unfair and unprofessional.

RACIALLY PROFILES THEIR CUSTOMERS I come into this Stewart's every week or so to grab a milk and some donuts/cookies but today was a very TERRIBLE experience for me. I walk halfway into the store about 4 minutes before I start my shift at work nearby; realized that the line was longer than I expected so I walked out. As I decided to walk out, I decided to place my phone in my pocket since I was not going to be purchasing anything and as I am exiting the door an employee with plain clothes walks in front of me and presses me to return or pay for the product... I was very dumbfounded and confused, with nothing in my possession I gladly emptied my pockets which was not enough for the young man as he still believed I was stealing, and he refused to check me after I begged him to check me or drop it since I needed to get to work. He continued on and proceeded to ban me for this accusation that he had towards me; I did not have any time to speak to any manager at that time, but I intend to go there on my lunch break to file a complaint because profiling a hardworking man on his way to...

Sometimes a person gets cranky and may overreact as I have done with this place. My sincere apologies as this IS the best Stewart's. The girls in the morning are stellar as well as the kids in the pm. I wish I could erase that other review but I will definitely use it as a reminder to take people's feelings into consideration as we are all human. Maybe just not post after this.
