Started coming here with family in November 2023 on weekend mornings. This review is for weekend mornings only since that is the only time I practice. It was frustrating for me at first when I would just show up at a bowling alley like the old days and be turned away because there was league at that time and I was asked to come back later until someone explained to me that bowling alleyâs have been suffering from a decline in business for a good part of 20+ years and a lot of Places closed. Those closing created consolidations in leagues and those leagues are the bread and butter to the bowling alleyâs so If I wanted to bowl and not be in a league I had to call and find out when there was open bowling. I noticed in another review that there was a complaint about the place being dirty, not modern, rude workers and having to leave only one shoe, closed for open bowling and with those complaints this is why I give them 5 stars . Saturday and Sunday mornings the lanes fill up quickly with league so call ahead. There has also been times I showed up with family to be turned away because of a Tournament. One thing that Cortland could improve on is updating their website to notify customers of tournaments or special functions. Cortland does have a policy of leaving one shoe and this is and old school bowling alley and the reasoning is you probably will realize you have bowling shoes on if you see a sneaker on the floor when you leave. This prevents you from leaving the alley with bowling shoes on and destroying the soles by walking on concrete/blacktop. Cortland is NOT modern by any means (Still stuck in the 1980âs) but the lanes are VERY WELL MAINTAINED! For people who are serious bowlers this is a good place . The ground are not dirty, I have found them to be maintained and the morning workers from the front desk to the food court have always been nice to me and my family. They oil their lanes and maintain the equipment, I have yet to see a ball chipped up due to poor maintenance although I did have a ball burnt up by a ball return and Cortland did the right thing. When league is in play there are limited lanes to bowl on especially for little kids who need bumpers. Overall this is a great place to bowl but itâs all about timing (when there is no league or tournament). This place is not Bougie!! If thatâs what you are looking for this place is...
Read moreThis place has one of the most incompetent, rude and aggressive managers I have ever seen. Teach this woman the rules of communication with customers, the basic communication skills she still hasn't learned, and finally explain to the person that screaming at customers is not a good idea.
The website for this wonderful place says that on Tuesday from 6pm for any two hours the cost is $19 including shoes, but there must be two people on the lane. Inside the place it says the same thing on their menu, banners and all the boards. She tried to charge me $19 per person (that is $38 for two people) and told me it was her so-so rules and that's the way it would be. When I asked where I could read or see that, to which she said nowhere, that's just what she said. So can we keep all price lists in all places in the mind of incompetent staff?
And the best part is that I have been to this location many times before where I was charged $19 as it should be. Why is your manager scamming people? If you write one thing, be so kind as to do so. No manager has the right to change the rules just because she felt like it. It's a huge tragedy for your cool staff to work under a manager like this. Won't be coming back here again, let your manager play herself as much as she wants.
Good luck choosing an adequate...
Read moreWe went at least three times in March. We found a lot of people already start tournaments and birthday parties. Yes they have all you need to have your kids party. We not just like they rent the shoes (kids and adults), they have all balls from 6 pounds to 14 or more pounds. Different colors. The prices are good, they have all clean and ready to play. We love they sell fast food, delicious beverages and try any combination. For adults they have a bar with all your favorite drinks. The floor to play bowling are in an amazing good shape. My son love it si he always want to go back. Just keep in mind, if you plan to go first found what time can be good to go because some times we went on Saturday after 4pm and they have tournaments and all lanes are busy also keep in kind they have parties. The best time we found between 1pm and 3 pm on Saturdays plenty of lanes. Also at night they can turn off the regular lights and turn on the special ones to see all blowing, an amazing way to play. Also kids and beginners can request to use the bands to ensure the balls will be always going to the pins. Tom is the owner and braise being a good owner he is always on top of all to be sure all is ready for us to go...
