I went to Kim's for my wedding dress alterations and it was a frustrating experience. It was actually the most stressful experience out of my whole wedding planning journey.
The most stressful thing about working with Kim is that her shop is disorganized. There is no front desk associate or manager to help with scheduling, keeping orders organized, etc.
This was especially frustrating because I had a 30 minute drive to Kim's. (Sure, I could've gone to a closer tailor, but Kim's was highly recommended to me by a friend, and it's my wedding dress - I was willing to make the trip for good work.)
There was one instance where I had an appointment scheduled with Kim for my 3rd or 4th fitting (that I had to miss work for), made the 30 minute drive, arrived at the shop, had to wait 30 minutes because it wasn't ready, and then they brought someone else's wedding dress out. I was then told that they hadn't done any work on my dress in over a month. 45 minutes later, no fitting, and had another 30 minute drive home. Really only got excuses from the staff - "sorry, it's wedding season, we're busy".
For my final fitting - which, I specifically mentioned to Kim that I wanted to bring the dress home (it had been in the shop for at least two months at this point, the wedding was three weeks out, and we already had 5 or 6 fittings by now) - the bustle was supposed to be done, and it still wasn't done. So, once again, I had to make another hour long drive the next day.
As far as the tailoring itself - the dress was tailored nicely and I was happy with the final product overall. However, they did not steam the dress. We had to steam it ourselves. I've heard from other brides that they receive their dresses steamed and ready to go from their tailors, so that was disheartening. I also had a few of my bustles snap off during the reception with people dancing and stepping on the dress. I hear that's common, though I'm not sure.
I wouldn't recommend getting your wedding dress tailored here, or anything that is time-sensitive. Unfortunately they are too disorganized and it was...

I took a couple pairs of jeans here for repairs on Mon. Dec. 2nd 2024 and was told to come back Friday Dec 6th for pickup. So I come in Friday the 6th @ about 11am to pick up my jeans.. I was then told by her assistant that it was "too early" and to please come back within an hour and Kim would be finished. I thought it was odd but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said ok. So return almost 2 hours later and she was not finished and then told me that if I could wait 20 mins for her to repair them. I declined and told her assistant that I would be back the next day,she could tell that I was not pleased at all!
Mind you, I live in liverpool so this shop is a good 20 mins from my house. So I come into her shop today to pick up my jeans and they were finally ready. I didn't give her any attitude or anything, but I think she was frustrated that I kept coming back on her word that they would be finished but each time she wasn't and it made her look bad in front of her customers. So she gives me my jeans and then asked me if I had "cat" I was like huh? No.... she said because while she was fixing my jeans she got sick and had to go to the hospital because she was allergic to something that was on my jeans and to clean them.. she did this in front of her customers to try and make me look bad becuase she felt a certian way about her own shortcomings as a business owner.
I wish I would have read these reviews before going to her shop. She has a low rating for a...
Read moreThis place came highly recommended from my cousin who had been going here for a long time. I had my bridesmaid dress altered along with the other girls and my mother's mother of the bride dress. We picked up the dresses and we're not offered or encouraged to try them on to check the length. We apparently mistakenly trusted them and both my mother and I were tripping over our dresses the entire event, which is the entire reason we needed them hemmed in the first place. We picked them up right before they went on vacation so I assumed there was an innocent mistake and they missed the dresses somehow. I asked for a refund, and then made me drive all the way over there just to yell at me and my mother and tell us that it's too bad and it was hemmed. I was willing to believe it was a mistake but she was insistent that instead it was poorly done for what we requested and very rudely told us it's our fault for trusting that it was the right length in the first place and she refused the refund. I would have just let it go in the first place if we both didn't end up paying $100 each for the poorly done hem in the first place, which I thought was outrageous but paid it given how highly recommended they came. Go anywhere else unless you want to be held at, over charged, and get a poorly hemmed item. I'm still not convinced it was hemmed, it's the same length as when I brought it and she couldn't point out any...
