The staff at the 2015 Dark Matter Scream Works was the most unprofessional I have ever seen. Apparently the rule on touch did not apply to them as the actor who was supposed to be a little girl from a mental hospital crab walks out of under the desk and feels my friends leg. We then move on to this foggy hallway as a man jumps out as us. My friends and I have are arm hooked with each other.. A man jumps out with fake knifes attached to his fingers. My other 2 friends fall. He corners them and gets close enough that his knifes skim my friends face and leaves a mark. I get that he is supposed to scare you but not get close enough to leave marks. I yell to distract him to me so my friends can get up he comes towards me as I dodge him. We thought we could do it but it was to much. Online it said that if we needed to leave we could ask them and they would show us out. But instead he goes back into his hiding place comes out WITH A SHOVEL. And starts screaming and swinging it at us. We yell at scream as we ask for a way out he just makes his way out from behind the curtain. And doesn't come out. We scream for help and an exit. It was only till about 3 minutes of screaming my friend pulls out her phone and threatens to call the cops if they didn't let us out. Only then the creepy little girl comes out and says right this way in her creepy little girl voice. We couldn't tell if she was serious but we had nothing else we follow her she leads us to the entrance she kept saying scaredy-cats as we walked out she laughed creepily. The employee at the entrance said "awe some scaredy cats" running out to my moms car. We get into and my friend immediately starts crying. No sobbing. My mom gets out and holds her while she sobs . What happened in there was not okay it took a threat of the police to be let out having my friends be touched. They broke rules and violated my space. I don't care if you all think that we were just over reacting. They broke there own rules and was the worst...

Unlike the area's other haunts, Dark Matter feels a little different every time I go. After talking with a couple members of the team, this is thanks to the staff rebuilding the entire haunt from scratch a few months prior to opening night.
The details are solid, props are cleverly placed and there's a decent amount of variety across the location's 5 houses. Each has a reasonable length, totaling about 35-40 minutes of fun if you're able to go from house-to-house without waiting in queue lines.
As for the actors, most of them were actually pretty good at making me feel immersed, even when they weren't scary. This is especially the case for those allowed to perform in the queues, providing entertainment even while we wait inside and out.
A few stragglers who just stood around almost killed the vibe, but there was usually someone much more enthusiastic about scaring around the next corner, which always threw me off a bit and made for a better time.
Regardless, I definitely think they could benefit from hiring more actors. There are always just enough, which is fine, but I often walk through areas and think "It would be really cool if someone was here."
The price of admission is also fair at $30, with the option to spend $10 more on a Scream Pass VIP Ticket and skip the normal lines. Both can be purchased with cash or card, and those who like to buy in advance can do so online. However, you've still gotta wait in the line outside even if you already have your ticket.
Unfortunately, due to some local hooligans at nearby stores, Dark Matter can no longer operate after 10pm. This serves as a minor inconvenience for visitors, but I can only imagine how frustrating it is for those who work there.
Despite that, Security is top notch with heavy surveillance both within and outside of the attraction. From mall cops to Greece Police, the...
Read moreActually loved the new location and haunt layout. My friends and I were optimistic seeing that the haunt had changed its main attractions, but also nervous that the loss of carnival and Christmas would be negatively impact the experience.
I ended up liking it so much that I bought one of their vintage shirts for 15$. There are 3 themed, but there is very little distinction between them. There are no more separate lines for the houses and everything is interconnected.
The acting at the haunt was very good. A majority of the actors were at the top of their game. Interesting or creepy. Of course, there were a few actors still using the tired “get out,” “why are you here,” or even worse “wanna play a game.” Not sure why those are still being used at haunts in 2024. Some standout acting came from the retrieving characters early on in the asylum. There was also a good use of silent actors, or actors just waiting. A creepy “doctor” who just fingers the sternum of a corpse while looking at you. One really cool actor was in a small dark hallway and would fall to the ground when hit with a green light and smoke. Thought this actor was pretty cool.
I love the classic vibe of this place. You will see many old school props and animatronics. The fly static prop was cool. The fat flailing animatronic was very good. I and my group also loved the vignette circle near the end where you get to look at various animatronics in scenes. So classic!
Will be back. Happy to have gone. I hope more is done next year, but I’m not sure there is space to expand and given the stress of having to change locations I’m not sure we’ll see new...
