THIS IS A REVISED REVIEW. From my previous 5 star... let me I'll explain the ONE⭐
It breaks my heart to write this because CeeCee is truly one of the most talented nail technicians I have ever met. For over 8 years, I was her loyal customer at Davi Nails inside the Walmart on Fairview. Her gel manicures are flawless every time, and her prices affordable — between $27 and $35 depending on the work. I sent them tons of business because her work was just that good. When Davi Salon closed, she never let her customers know. One day she was just gone! No contact, no call, NO TEXT! I went out of my way to track her down and found her working at her brother’s (Alex) salon NAIL ART in Fairview 4 minutes from her old place. Even though his starting prices for gel manicures were a shocking $55 (sometimes I even paid $65 for the same job that used to cost me no more than $35). We're talking a 100% markup. It's his place, he can charge whatever he wants but Cee Cee had a responsibility to explain to her supportive, long term customers. At least to explain that these prices would be the new norm. Giving us the opportunity to decide if we would continue. Well, I continued to go to her because she’s that amazing.
THE 100% mark up was one thing, it's what happened next that was completely unacceptable...
I split my time between NYC and Upstate (2.5 hour drive) and sometimes drove up just to have Cee Cee do my nails. Due to my work schedule I couldn't go up for a month and a half and had to have my nails done elsewhere. I hated it but had no choice cause my nails were looking bad and theyre a major part of my work. The last time I went, I only needed a gel polish change. At Davi Nails, this was $7; at her brother’s place, I expected maybe $15. Instead, her brother — clearly upset that I had my nails done elsewhere while I was away in the city, charged me $40 plus tip. Even CC looked shocked when he told her the price, but he insisted. This was not a misunderstanding; it was retaliation and a rip-off.
I supported CC for years, through changes and higher prices, because her work is worth it. But no customer should ever be punished for where they go in between visits — especially someone who has been loyal for nearly a decade. The fact that he would do this, and that she allowed it, was devastating. Her talent is incredible, but her brother’s management and outrageous, inconsistent pricing make this business impossible to support. Charging $40 for a polish change is a crime, and I’m speaking out so other customers are aware.
If I could give less than one star, I would.
MY OLD, GLOWING 5 star REVIEW to show the huge difference: I will start by saying that I honestly could not believe all the negative reviews! I have been a customer of CeeCee For over 8 years, which started st a Walmart location of her salon, DAVI NAILS, and I will tell you she is absolutely the best nail technician I have ever experienced! Just so you know, I literally travel 2 and a 1/2 hours from New York City to have my nails done by her every month. I will attach to this review a picture of my nails exactly one month since I last saw her because i've been very busy, so you can see the level of work she does. EVERY NAILS STILL INTACT! As for the owner of Nail Art, her brother Alex, he is not only great, he is kind and remembers everybody's name!!! And this place is always crowded! Part of my brand for my business, is my nails and on one occasion when CeeCee wasn't in and I was in emergency mode for an event, he assured me he would take care of it for me AND DID! I can't emphasize enough how anal I am sbout my nails and when I tell you their work is incredibly clean, precise, and just absolutely beautiful, that is an understatement! Yes, the place is a little old and needs a little bit of a face lift, but so what, you don't live there and you can go to a foo foo place in manhattan, where I live, and pay a hundred dollars for real crap work... I guess some might think the champagne and the butt kissing makes it worth...
Read moreNot at all impressed. The venue itself is worn -- all the pedicurist stools are cracked and peeled. This isn't a small thing, these are severely worn.
Upon arriving I was assigned a nail tech. I sat at her station and picked a lovely color from the selection she gave me. I tend to pick unusual colors; today was a very light green. I've had dips done many times over many years, so I can see this isn't going well. It's a brand I don't know and the coverage was splotchy. I kind expect the tech (a professional) to know this before doing the work: "Not a great color, how about something like this," or certainly say something as we progress.
But the worst part was when a regular of hers came in. She immediately started to work on her rather than me. Seriously? Why does this place get good reviews at all? As a result I have sorta-see-through nails and wasted over an...
Read moreAwful experience. 3 of us went for pedicures and nails. Most of the polish bottles were nasty and crusted over. My daughter picked a color and the manicurist told her it was no good and chose a different color for her, without asking. They kept trying to upsell us with gel (probably because all the polish was so nasty) and it chipped and is peeling off one day later.
My pedicure was incredibly rough and the woman stopped halfway through to service other customers and then everyone else in my party was done before me.
They only take cash and have signs, but you can only see them from the manicure area. While we had enough cash to cover it, she said we could leave my child there and go to an ATM.
As others have mentioned, it also seems old and worn and potentially even dirty.
