This thrift store isn't the place for you if you're easily overwhelmed by clutter or just want to shop. Can’t tell you how many times I almost pulled down or had to untangle things from the string lights trying to navigate the place. Also, they do play games like jumping into safety squares or something around the store. It’s definitely not a place for someone who is looking for an easy shopping trip.
As for the owner's Facebook auction? My experience was good up until the last few months.
The owner does not answer questions. Her mindset is to stop in the store to figure out sizes of clothing, dimensions, to see if there’s any damage on an item, etc. Simple things that could be answered without having to make the trip down. The auction only runs for the beginning of the week. So, if you don’t live a short distance/busy during the week, I don’t recommend it.
I was blocked also from the group. I have a family member who looked for me to see if we could figure out why. My only guess is (Since the owner lacks communication with customers) I won an item, but never picked up. One, I never got a notification letting me know I had won. Which leads to one thinking I should’ve checked back, but I had noticed (Before the auction ended) a higher bid than mine was placed, so I thought it wasn’t mine to win any longer.
It's understandable for a store owner to be frustrated, but I had purchased things from her in the past and always picked up on time. So, it's not like this was a reoccurring issue. Seems if you make a slip up once, you instantly are blocked for it.
All in all, the owner has a right to run her business the way she wants. I’ve been a customer for a while now, but as time goes on the store is becoming way too overwhelming to walk into and the owner seems more uptight/lacks taking customers into...
Read moreI have been going to Faerydale for MANY years now, followed Robyn in her transition from tiny Salem to big Ole Greenwich where she has flourished! So willing to help in any way she can, the auction is a fantastic addition to the business along with all the "hosting" she does throughout Halloween and many other holidays. It is always an adventure anytime you visit the store! I know personally I tend to spend about an hour looking through the many many treasures, if it's your first time going make it a day lol. As always, be a kind human and treat others the way you want to be treated; tomorrow is never a guarantee....
Read moreRobin the owner is very pleasant and will answer any questions you might have about her merchandise. I found my shopping experience very relaxing due to the music she has playing while you shop. Plus she has a notebook there so you can write what songs you would like to listen too while you shop. How many stores are willing to do that for their customers. Plus she does fun activities for her customers. She also has a area set up for kids to play while their parents shop. I also don't know many stores that go out of their way to accommodate their customers like Robin does...
