Since January 2023, after changing my glasses and watching three movies, I experienced severe pain in my left eye accompanied by ptosis (drooping eyelid), double vision, and blurriness. Despite consultations with numerous ophthalmologists and optometrists in local areas, NYC, and Philadelphia, and undergoing extensive tests including blood work, ocular MRI, and a CT scan of the neck and chest, my symptoms persisted. The diagnoses I received—right eye long-standing 4th nerve palsy and dry eyes—did not fully explain the left eye extreme pain and dryness. Conditions like myasthenia gravis and Graves' disease were ruled out. Treatments for dry eye, along with pain relief through Advil, Indomethacin, and Gabapentin, brought no relief and worsened my condition, severely impacting my daily life and work to the point where I could not even open my eyes. I had to patch eye all the time. In early March 2024, I consulted Dr. Angela Gardner, who attentively listened to my entire medical history and performed a comprehensive eye exam. During a recheck a week later, she observed that my reflection varied and suspected I had strong accommodation, likely caused by muscle spasms due to misalignment—a departure from previous explanations attributing the variance to dry eyes. Dr. Gardner then applied cycloplegia to my pupils. My high reflectivity, alongside my cataracts and the continuously changing prism amount, significantly complicated obtaining the correct prescription. Nevertheless, Dr. Gardner was patient and knowledgeable, dedicating time to meticulously measure the necessary reflection and prism for my condition. I returned on April 17, 2024, and she spent hours adjusting the prescription and the reflection of the prism. Under her care, I feel like I am finally on the right track and can see light at the end of the tunnel. Having been in pain for such a long time, words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Gardner. I highly recommend Dr. Angela Gardner and the friendly and professional team at the Old Saratoga Eyecare.
As I posted in my previous review, I have been seeing Dr. Gardner for correcting the misalignment of my eyes several times. Eventually, I had cataract surgery, so my prism needs to be measured again this week. As always, she spent hours conducting comprehensive eye exams. She very carefully measured my misalignment in vertical, horizontal, far, and near vision and helped me to try the prism on the trial frame very patiently, allowing me to try it at home before ordering. Today, I came back again to order the glasses, and Tara helped me very patiently, letting me take the time to try the prism again. I really appreciate the teams at Old Saratoga Eyecare. If you need a prism to correct misalignment, you need a doctor trained in Neurovisual Medical Evaluations who can diagnose and treat Binocular Vision Dysfunction. I strongly recommend Dr. Gardner and her team at Old Saratoga Eyecare for their specialty, experience,...
Read moreI took my 6 year old here for an eye exam because we had some concerns. I asked for recommendations and Old Saratoga came up more than once. Dr. Gardner was great with my little guy, answered all his questions and he always has loads. Everyone in the office was friendly. The office was clean and they seem to follow great pandemic protocols. We had some confusion with our insurance company because insurance companies are the worst, and they made calls for us trying to help us figure out what the deal was with our coverage. Tera, I believe her name was, spent a long time on the phone with me helping explain what is covered and what is not for his glasses and breaking down everything for me. She was super patient, kind and helpful. Very pleased with my experience here and would highly recommend...
Read moreIf I could give 10 stars I would. Dr. Gardener literally gave me my life back. I was absolutely miserable and desperate to find out what was wrong and destroying my life and found her. She, with the help of her incredible assistant Bethany, did the most thorough and extensive testing and diagnosed me with BVD. Who knew that a pair of glasses could fix all of the things that were wrong. Dr. Gardener and Bethany are so sweet and I can really tell they enjoy what they do and how they can help patients. I feel like I’m being nurtured by family. I love going there. Their front desk and optical team are fantastic as well. Everyone so accommodating and personable, relatable and empathetic. I don’t feel treated like I’m just another patient… I feel like I’m treated like a friend...
