If you like to give your money to businesses that treat their customers like dirt, this is the place for you! I was reluctant to try this bakery based on all the bad reviews about the service, and soon found out everyone was right about how rude they are to their customers. we didn't have any issue the first couple times we went in here, as for the actual baked goods, they're good, we didn't have anything bad, but you could find the same quality stuff at a bakery in many grocery stores. But we will never go back here out of principle, solely based on the rudeness and attitude of whom I assume is the owner's daughter. All the other reviewers were definitely right! The way she treats and speaks to customers is completely unacceptable. I ordered a cake a couple weeks ago and was told I could pay when I picked it up, which I did, no problem. The next time I called and ordered a cake ( who I assume is the owner's daughter) asked me what time I was picking it up and I told her and she told me no. So I gave her another time frame and she told me no, and that it had to be after 2.... And she was very snotty about it, I said okay that's fine. Then she says you have to pay now, I told her I wasn't aware of that because just two weeks prior I had paid when I picked up, and that I didn't have a credit card on me to pay right then, but I would call back with the credit card, she got really snotty with me and hung up the phone on me in mid sentence! I thought maybe she didn't hear me and it was an accident so I called back the next day to pay with a credit card and she immediately gave me the same snotty attitude from the day before and told me in a very rude tone "you're not getting your cake because you weren't willing to pay yesterday" and that someone else had called and ordered a cake and taken my spot. I easily could have switched the day for pickup but at that point there was no way I was going to give one penny to someone who treats their customers with such a rude attitude! I can place an order at Eileen's and have it ready the next day and pick it up anytime I want, always with friendly service, and their buttercream is the best in the city, This was just a closer bakery but I'd rather drive a little further and not deal with people like this. (Butter block bakery is the best bakery in Buffalo but has limited hours unfortunately). I'm not the first customer this place lost, if you look at the reviews there's plenty of others they treated the same way, let them keep losing customers until their bakery eventually goes out of business with their...
Read moreI’m sad to write a negative review for Chubby Chix. The cupcakes were so delicious, but unfortunately we were met with terrible customer service. I don’t leave a lot of reviews, but coming from a family of small business owners, I know this kind of thing needs to be resolved for a company to thrive. Also, most other poor reviews for this company were customers had the same issue.
I went to Chubby Chix Bakery yesterday (Saturday, March 7th) with my mom who uses a walker and my husband. I was excited to hear that about Chubby Chix (I’m from out of town) because we love cupcake shops, and it was something fun I could do with my mom while in town since she has limited mobility. We walked in and there was a group of 3 that appeared to be placing an order. No big deal, and they didn’t appear to be busy. There was one woman working with dark brown hair. When it was our turn we were asking some questions and figuring out what we wanted. Every time we asked a question or picked out another cupcake, we felt like we were an inconvenience to her. It made me feel really uncomfortable and I just wanted to leave. I felt like I was ordering at McDonald’s just being met with a “can I help you?” with annoyed body language. The employee was probably in her 30s yet we felt like we were met with service you expect from a teenager.
We did have a 2 special requests to have one of our 6 cupcakes in a separate container since it was for my grandpas bday, and that we could have one of the 6 cupcakes be a doggie cupcake. She said it was fine so we didn’t think anything of it. However, when she cashed us out the total was $15. We were confused because the sign had said $13 for 6. We asked and she said “well we usually don’t include the doggie cupcakes in the 6 packs and you needed an extra container”. When I did the math in my head she was charging us for individual cupcakes instead of the 6 pack. I would not have cared at all about the money, but she did not communicate any of this to us and instead told us it was fine to do the things we were asking with the 6 pack we thought we were ordering. I just felt like this whole experience was missing some simple and friendly communication, instead of us feeling like we were bothering her. We asked to add a 7th cupcake to make one 6 pack and one extra, and that wound up being only 50 cents more, so we did that.
My mom and I left and we both said the exact same thing - “getting cute cupcakes is supposed to be a...
Read moreToday I called this bakery around noon to be sure they were going to open as I wanted to select some cupcakes and cookies to bring to a business associate's office. The lady who answered said they were just getting ready to open. Good enough. Upon entering another customer entered with me and I told him to go first as I had a large order. He did. Once he was finished, the young lady at the counter said, "what's your big order?" I said I wanted a dozen assorted cupcakes and a dozen cookies. While their cookie selection was limited because it was early and they were still baking, there was enough in the display for my purchase. Their counter had some individually wrapped cookies. I asked if those cookies had been baked on the premises. The young lady asked why would we sell cookies we didn't bake. I said because some bakeries do have individually wrapped cookies that were baked elsewhere. She seemed annoyed. I wasn't trying to annoy her, I just asked a question. The cookies were placed in two small bags. I asked if I could have one of the larger plastic bags behind the counter, as I wanted to make it as easy as possible to carry into the office the tray of cupcakes and the cookies. The young lady stated the bags were for larger orders. I said I had just spent $64. Isn't that enough? She went and grabbed a bag and was not pleased to do so. I told her that's ok, forget it, I won't be returning. My point is that if you do not want to greet and service the paying public, then don't. Get someone else to do it. It's a shame because their products look very beautiful, and it's nice to give small businesses my money. However, there are several other small business bakeries nearby in Hamburg, Orchard Park and West Seneca. I would never review their products in a negative way however customer service and simply being nice to people does mean...
