I don't know if I've ever taken the time to write a more important necessary review than this one. I will try my best to summarize.
A little over ten years ago, I purchased an engagement ring for my wife from Reeds Jewelers. It was not a conventional wedding ring, as my wife did not want me to spend a ton of money and preferred something more unique anyway. As our wedding approached, I purchased two extra bands made up of small black diamonds to go on each side of the main band. The stone on the ring is a pink amethyst surrounded by black diamonds. She absolutely loved the ring, and we were totally satisfied with the purchase and product.
Over the course of the couple years, Reeds' customer service was always pleasant and helpful. We had to have the ring resized immediately because it was too big from the outset. And then of course we took the ring in for routine cleanings, and also had tto get a couple black diamonds replaced which had fallen out.
My wife and I have had 8 children together since our marriage in 2015. The ring fit from the initial re-sizing until she had our second child in 2018. Not only did her knuckles swell (as they naturally do through pregnancy), but we also became Orthodox Christians. This is relevant because traditionally, the Orthodox wear their wedding bands on their right hand. At this point, her ring wouldn't even fit on her left hand anymore, so the right hand had no chance.
Thus, in 2019, I took the ring in to be re-sized for a second time. My wife was overjoyed because she hadn't been able to wear her ring for almost a year already. The jewler told us at this time that this was the last time it would be able to be resized, due to the small size of the black diamonds and the thin nature of the additional bands. We were very excited and thankful to have her ring fit again! Every time they provided this service it was always for a reasonable price.
Unfortunately, this joy was short lived...or perhaps you could say it was exchanged for the joy of conceiving our twins in 2020. Her knuckles swelled even more and yet again there was no way the ring could possibly fit.
This was something we lived in a sort of denial about for a while, hoping maybe that her swelling would go down once she had the babies. Unfortunately this did not happen, but life got very busy very quickly, and unfortunately addressing this issue sadly fell by the wayside. Furthermore, we were pretty defeated in that we both remembered what we had been told, that they wouldn't be able to resize it again.
This quiet defeat and failure to explore options persisted for almost 5 years. It made me so sad as her husband to know that she may never wear her wedding ring again. Eventually, our 10 year anniversary was approaching, and I knew this was the time to resolve this somehow. Especially since we were planning to have our marriage formally blessed in the Orthodox Church on this occasion, which would involve our rings in the ceremony!
Not having any clue what to expect, I snuck out with her ring which had been tucked away in her dresser for years, and visited Reeds to explore whatever options there might possibly be.
Immediately I was greeted by the pleasant and sincere associate, Nicole. She gave me her full attention and care, allowing me to share the whole backstory of the ring and our entire situation. She then presented the only real option, which was to separate the additional bands from the main band and scrap them (as they could not be re-sized again), re-size the main band, and at least have a ring she could wear again, even if only in its initial form as an engagement ring. Then, she priced out the cost of having the bands re-made, which wad more than the entire cost of the whole ring due to the present price of gold.
Since my review is too long I will take screenshot of the rest and add...
Read moreI want to start this five star rating off by saying that the service offered by Reed’s in Orchard Park has a exceeded any and all of my expectations! Their customer service (Gina) is the most tentive and passionate I’ve seen in a long time! (let’s make this clear I’ve shopped at Andrews, Kays, Jared’s.. there’s a list and they don’t come close to Reed’s) Gina went out of her way to find me the exact diamond cut/ shape, color, quality, clarity, kart and price that I wanted. She actually found me a bigger clearer diamond than I didnt even think I could afford but BOOM she did it! She took her time with me. I didn’t feel rushed at all. Even when I wasn’t at the store she’d call to let me know a new batch of awesome diamonds just came in and to check them out if I had time. (Who does that?!) the most important purchase of my entire life and I had a diamond expert!!!!! The Owner of Reeds also would stop me in the store to talk about what I was looking for and told me that I was in great hands! (The owner, Jeff Zimmer, actually was there! What an amazing down to earth guy! You have this built up expectations of people who own such extravagant thing ie: a diamond store lol but he’s a blast to converse with! The knowledge this guy has!!!!! I can’t say enough good things) The over all service and price was in bearable. Buying the band for my (now) fiancé was soooooooo easy. Gina let her try on as many bands as she liked and pointed her into a directed to a ring she exclaimed she had to have. All I can say is thank you REEDS for hiring such an amazing employee who cares and has so much passion for what she does!! She was the first person I had to tell after “SHE SAID YES!” Thank you again!! #MRStoMRS we get married in 19 days,...
Read moreI recently had to have my still new engagement ring fixed, the original jeweler I had come to find did shotty and very poor work. I found myself at Reeds with the wonderful Gina Hopkins Schmidt! While in freak out mode about my ring and realizing that I needed every single one of my 16 prongs fixed, the main diamond was a wind blow away from falling out and I had already lost a side stone I thought it was the end of my ring! Gina quickly squashed that thought process from existence! After a long and detailed consultation with her and the actual jeweler who would be doing the repairs I knew they could do what I deemed impossible! The hardest part was giving up my damaged good and feeling it would never be the same. Broken our not it was mine. In a week and a half my ring was all finished, sooner than expected! I immediately drove all the way out there and picked it up before they closed, I couldn't wait another day! WOW was it worth the wait! My ring looked better than the day I got it, no exaggeration! It was beautiful, symmetric, smooth and just plain stunning! I couldn't even tell that work was done on it! Thank you so much to Gina Hopkins Schmidt & the rest of the Reeds staff! I have to say if you are just inquiring, need help, a plan and idea or a problem hands down I would recommend Gina & the Reeds staff in Orchard Park! She was truly wonderful to work with, heart of gold (and diamonds), she will absolutely go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at...
