Went in to purchase some Cassava/Yucca. This root is difficult to judge without cutting a small piece off at the end. There are several signs that state, "Please do not cut off the ends, call an associate to do it for you, so I did." When he arrived the associate refused to cut off an end for me to verify freshness, and said that was on the order of the manager, I showed them the several posted signs that stated the contrary. We called the manager on duty, and she stated the same and said I could come back 2 days later to talk to her manager. I come on weekends to purchase groceries for my mom. I don't have the time to come during the middle of the day during a work week to argue about directives that clearly are not in accordance with the management signs that are posted, and my mom cannot as well. I’ve been coming to Fruit Tree with my family for years and it’s usually great—but this recent visit was disappointing. I haven’t been to the store in a while, and the customer service has definitely declined.

When I asked to use credit, the cashier told me I had to enter my debit PIN. I explained that I had issues with fraud last time I did that, and her only response was, “That’s how the system is.” No explanation, no help.

I also asked about bag charges. She said if you have a store account, bags are free. I gave the phone number, and she confirmed it—but still didn’t hand me a bag. As I grabbed one to leave, she said, “$.25” after the transaction had already ended.
