Would've been a 0 if that was an option! Not sure if a second chance is warranted. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant I was ordering from was closed, so I googled and found Spices Negril. I had my wife order and pick up a large Oxtail. She went and picked up the food, came back and shared some at the table for me. I sat down to eat -famished from D.I.Y. projects all day- and dug into the meal. The first piece of Oxtail I bit into was very trashy, not flavored, and un chewable. The second and third pieces were the same or worse, and it turned out the entire portion of Oxtail was this way. Spices had closed for the night by this time, so I could not return the food. I would've definitely done so!! This was a $16 meal, and it was one of the biggest food disappointments I've encountered in a long time. My goal for writing this is not to say the restaurant is bad, because this is my first meal from there, and any number of factors could've contributed to the horrendous Oxtail and everyone deserves a second chance. My reason for writing is so that others -if they have the same experience- can write their reviews, and, ultimately, we can put this place out of business if they are in fact serving us garbage repeatedly.

Spices Ratings 4 ** Stars

On August 4th 2019 at around 7:30 pm we went to Spieces Jamaica Restaurant. Located on Baldwin Avenue in Long Island New York We left around 9:35 pm. My party included three people. We spent $126.45 +$20 tip. So it is a little on the pricey side. The salad arrived 7 minutes after we arrived and. Then the appetizer-cod fish fritters arrived 12 minutes after. The main course took another 39 minutes. We were given warm bread while we consumed our salad Garden Salad great it was served with balsamic and several other dressings were offered I selected French . The cod fish fritters was hot and perfectly infused with scotch bonnet pepper. Our brown stew fish was a little on the spicy side , but cooked to perfection. All portions size was a little on the small size if you eat a great deal but okay for most individual. If you do not like spices or pepper please inform the staff so they can take that into consideration. Caution just telling a Jamaican restaurant staff mild does not mean much. Plainly say no pepper or hold the spice. The ambiance was clean, spacious and truly authentic Jamaican. Suggestions to add a touch of class, is to add in seasonal live flowers for your tables. In addition invest in hiring a greeter that is there to welcome your patrons. Using a waitresses as a greeter leaves you guess waiting longer than necessary. I almost left. There was a live DJ and two bathrooms were available. It was handicapped accessible and close to the parkway exit. The waitresses was friendly and even though the meal took a little time , it's clear it was cooked to order. This means authentic Jamaican food takes time to prepare. Therefore pack your patience slide into one of their exquisite booth have a drink from their fully stack bar, were other natural juices including soda is available but not included on the menu. So listen to the authentic Jamaican music and relax and be prepared to be transported back to the spice island of Jamaica, that Spices' chef does very well. Overall experience...

I recently attended a group event at this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service was nothing short of a disaster. We were a large group (about 80 people), and it quickly became evident that the staff was completely overwhelmed and disorganized.

Despite making a reservation well in advance (about a month prior), the restaurant was not prepared and we were left waiting for our food for an unreasonable amount of time. The most frustrating part of the evening was that after three hours, most of our guests still hadn't received their meals. The staff kept coming back to ask us what we had ordered multiple times, even though the servers wrote down our orders. Also, after having to ask for utensils multiple times, some of our guests received forks and knives with residue and specks of food on them. When we approached the staff to inquire about our orders, we were met with dismissive responses, adding insult to injury. One of our guests repeatedly got water, food, and sauce spilled on her as the waiter passed by and didn’t receive as much as an apology.

It's understandable that large groups can be challenging to accommodate, but the lack of preparation and, not to mention, basic courtesy and professionalism was truly astounding. They were severely understaffed, with only 2-3 servers and one chef. Overall, the evening was a huge letdown. I hope they work on improving their service, as there is a lot of...

I had my husband's birthday party here not only did they have another party going on at the same time but there area he told us was reserved for my party wasn't where we were seated. I choose to do buffet style to only find out they did not cater to my whole party he charged me extra for fish for 30 people and they gave us 12 fish I had to say something to the owner who told me this is how he does the buffet style not everyone will want fish but I paid for everyone to have fish my husband had to wait 20 minutes until they cooked 5 more fish. I was also told I could take the food home afterwards no such thing the little bit that was left they took to the back. They wanted to charge me $30 to cut the cake and use their utensils I looked online while we were there they advertise a free birthday cake or bottle of champagne if you keep your party there needless to say I didn't pay the additional 30. We got a bottle of champagne about 30 minutes later. I paid for 4 hours to begin at 8 PM my guest came from out of town on time and had to wait 2 hours for my party to begin as the waiters had to serve the other party first the tip that was added on to my prepaid bill was 700 he said that was 20% I will never step foot back in this place as I do not like to be robbed I paid for the service that I did not receive in a satisfactory manner. It is my opinion that you will be wasting your money and time keeping...
