Hannaford — Local services in Town of Herkimer

They should call this place “Can’t-afford” because their prices are so high, you can’t afford to shop here! I wouldn’t really call it clean, but compared to Walmart, it is “cleaner.” (There are puddles or human urine in front of the restroom fixtures, but generally the fecal matter is contained better than say Walmart.) Their prices are getting worse by the day! The employees seem only marginally more content then those of other stores. I really don’t see why this place gets 5 star reviews. Two is all it’s worth.

Pharmacy staff are rude, the older blonde woman is always drinking coffee or using her personal phone and ignoring customers. Management must be blind or simply doesn’t care. I’d like to get a job here if I can snack and drink coffee and use my phone all day!

The only good thing it has going for it is that they still have employees who pull all the merchandise to the front of the shelves so it is somewhat easier to shop and looks better stocked than competitors. It’s a shame they can’t invest in lowering their prices, but like all the big chain stores, profit comes before everything, including customer...

I did my first Hannaford to Go pickup today! Awesome experience! I placed my order, selected my pickup time, then arrived at the store and parked in the designated spot then called the number provided at the parking spot. Someone immediately answered the phone to let me know that they were on their way out with my order. The order was brought out to me, the employees wore masks, as did I, and whether I shop in store or Hannaford to Go, they are always very accommodating and polite! I also liked that there was no close contact and I was able to process my own payment on a sanitized keypad. Perfect! Everything I ordered was fresh and packed nicely. Being opening day, I went in with patience thinking that I may experience a few hicups here and there, as far as wait time or delivery, but neither was the case. They were well prepared and organized! I would highly recommend placing an order! Go to Hannaford.com, select the Herkimer store, select the day and time you wish to pick up your order, pick your items and let them do the rest! You won’t be disappointed!

I love this store. They have the best deli selections as well as fresh hummus/tabouli and grape leaves that I always stock up on. Around here there aren't many stores that offer the option let alone the variety. While they have different brands and healthier options than Wal-Mart, I choose to shop here because of the overall attitude. About 4 years ago I began to lose the ability to walk. Gradual but the last 2 years I barely left the house to shop. Wal-Mart didn't care how much I suffered at the check-out but Hannaford, they helped me unload my cart if I needed it. If I couldn't lift a case of water while shopping, they would. I forgot butter and one time said it out loud, the man bagging groceries asked what kind I wanted and went to get it for me. No one does things like that anymore. The cashiers at Wal-Mart barely want to cash you out or bag your groceries.

Even though prices are climbing, I'll pay the extra if I'm treated like a human being. I've had surgery and am on the mend but it's nice to go somewhere that the people remember you and while no one wants to be at work, they still...
