I've been to every Asian (not including Indian) buffet within 30 minutes of Utica. They're all disgusting and this one is no exception. The food is old and off across the board. If you think the food you're eating at any of these buffets is fresh to the extent that it was made not even within a few hours, but within the same day, or week in some cases, you're wrong. The second I walked up to the buffet, the smell hit me. The sushi was chewie. I've never had chewie sushi anywhere else. The spare ribs smelled vile. They were hard and dry. The rice and lo mein were tasteless. So much so that my first thought was "did they put brown food coloring in the "fried rice""? The lo mein was chewie. If I made lo mein and let it sit for a week, it wouldn't have the same chewie consistency as what was served here. All the variants of chicken they serve taste the same and nothing like what they're advertised as. E.g., the general tsao and teriyaki chicken tasted nothing like those dishes at any other Chinese place. There was nothing served here to write home about. The best items were okay at best. They were the: white rice, pudding and dumplings. Everything else was excessively bad. The raw chicken at the hibachi station is sitting in a literal bucket of slime. The brownie was literally the worst brownie I've had in my life. How do you mess up a brownie? It's actually clear if you think about it, it's probably because it sits out for a week like most of the food here. It was behind dry. Dusty would be a more fitting description. I didn't use the bathroom, but my girlfriend did and she said it was filthy. I couldn't stomach her mac and cheese on appearance alone, but she said it was liquidly and tasteless. This is a great place to come to once every few years when you want to scratch some weird itch. Just make sure you go into it having come to terms with the fact that you might get...
Read moreWent with a group of four, the server was great and seated us then took our drink orders basically immediately as we walked in the door. We all went to the buffet, got our plates, came back and started eating. And then the fire nation atta- well no. It was just sweet. Everything was like that, ridiculously overly sweet and off tasting. We all noted it to each other pretty much immediately. My buffalo wing (thankfully I only grabbed one) tasted legitimately like slightly spicy maple syrup as a good example for how weirdly sweet/off things were. It was like that for everything we had aside from the fries that were just cold but otherwise average, the ribs that were pretty good tasting, but notably stale/hard(Everything was kind of stale and old like that, maybe just bad luck on the time we went.) and the things that were supposed to be sweet. They just weren't. They tasted burnt and were the only things actually lacking sweetness.
The worst thing, which is shocking to say after already mentioning a maple syrup flavored buffalo wing. But trust me this was so much worse. The cheesy potato. Do not ever, not even once try this. Everyone at our table almost threw up from it. Bile is almost more palatable.
As already stated, the server was mostly amazing, but did kind of rush us out. The bill was brought up after our first plates. At the same time, I can't blame them for that part. We were using pretty average speaking voices and blatantly discussing how bad the food was.
Don't be misled by the two stars, that's only for the server. I'd otherwise give it a 'not even in an...
Read moreI was shocked at arrival, seeing only one other person seated at a table around 5pm on a Thursday.. I should have walked out then…. Waitress was very nice, was seated fast due to waitresses and waitress walking around looking lost and not doing anything. One actually had his feet propped up on the counter using his phone. After being seated we had walked over to get our plates. It was very uncomfortable having some lady follow you around the buffet to see what you were getting and/or just say “hi” every time you look at her .. but besides that fact we noticed everything was luke warm. The fries tasted like day old McDonald’s fries, my daughter had tried the Lo main before getting back to the table and she said it was so hard she hurt her tooth!!!! She’s 5!!! When I got back to the table I noticed the cups were soo filthy that it looked like grease just smothered all over them I was honestly scared to even touch them.. after noticing that I then started looking around , I counted 5 bugs on the ceiling that looked just like roaches, crawling , not dead and huge. Out of panic I ran out of there and never will be back again!! Nobody should ever eat here!!!!!! I ate one fri and i STILLL feel gross from being in there for that 10 minutes and it was days ago!! This place needs to be shut down. And they should pay to have my car detailed since I went in there...
