Upon searching for antiques in Ithaca, I came across this store. The online review was lacking so I wasn't quite sure what to expect upon arrival. Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly staff and a bit overwhelmed by the variety of items for sale. The shop was really full but neatly organized by categories and offered a great variety of things which included vintage clothing, buttons, LPs, crystals and rocks, glass and dishware, smalls, a large variety of postcards and vintage photographs, some ephemera, art, vintage books and titles by local authors, knick-knacks, vintage toys, hodgepodge of antiques, vintage pin backs, a lot of vintage costume and fine jewelry and a great selection of jewelry making findings. I additionally saw things like camera equipment, typewriter, antique sewing equipment, linens, and even some furniture. I found that the majority of the pricing was reasonable and in some cases actually below fair market value. The shop owner had taken extra care to price the majority of items making the costs pretty clear between signs and tags.
I was there several hours during a changeover of staff while the shop owner was out of town browsing their boxes of postcards and photos. Both ladies were extremely friendly and were more than pleased to assist me and answer my questions. I spent much of the time there going through the shop's extensive vintage postcard collection and antique photos. I have to say the key interests in this shop would be geared towards those looking for a wide variety of vintage photos which include RPPCs, Dags, tin types, cabinet cards and miscellaneous snapshots. I would additionally recommend the shop for people who collect postcards, vintage costume jewelry and clothing, and buttons. There's enough crystals and rocks here to appeal to the basic rockhound or metaphysic type. If you're into jewelry making, I definitely recommend checking out her trays of vintage components and decent selection of a variety of beads which I found actually pretty inexpensive.
Overall, East Hill Antiques provided an enjoyable afternoon off of work while in town. I feel like there's a little bit of everything in the store, so I would be surprised if you didn't find something you liked. At first their wealth of items can be overwhelming but the organization really helps you get to where you need to go. Her method of pricing makes shopping easy without much hassle of requesting prices though I do suggest initially requesting the color coding price categories she set up. I highly recommend to stop in if nothing else for the experience. I haven't had this much fun antique shopping...
Read moreAll the ladies who work here are the sweetest. I never have a bad time at this store. Real vintage items and antiques are awesome to see and rather sparse in such a big market. I don't have pierced ears due to allergies but this place has the largest selection of clip ons that I've ever seen. And they look nice too. Great selection of beads and a good place to find old photographs. I come in nearly every day and never have the time to search through the whole store. There's just too many awesome items and interesting finds. One of my favorite...
Read moreThis is the best antique shop in Ithaca! The staff is always super sweet and friendly. As a kid I used to come here for dollhouse furniture and they would always give me some free candy with my purchase. The prices are a little higher than some other antique stores in town, but you will find that they pretty much always give a good discount on items when you check out. There’s some great stuff in there too, I always find something nice. If I could give 6...
