Collegetown Bagels — Restaurant in Town of Ithaca

Tastey little sandwich shop. This place has variety and flavor on tap for it's sandwiches. Great selection of baked cakes, treats and cookies to sate your sweet tooth. Organic offerings and a laid back atmosphere fit right in to what Ithaca seems to be all about. Touch pricey, but I imagine it's indicative of quality ingredients. You may find yourself lost within their back wall chalkboard menu and the only way to get a good look at it is to get in line and risk rushing your decision making process. Check their menu online beforehand to pregame a bit as there is a lot to choose from.

Reuben Review:

The Reuben here is of moderate size on regular rye as opposed to my preferred marble. The ratio of ingredients is acceptable without any problems. No super standouts. The cornbeef was sliced well, and the whole sandwich was pinched on a pannini press. This left a nicely grilled ribbing and no sogginess from the Kraut. All in all...

Went in last Friday (7/18) for a bit of a splurge breakfast. I ordered the Nova Lox & Cream Cheese on a Sesame Bagel with tomato, onions, and capers. Cost with tax & 20% tip was $16.91. To my surprise there was a ton of lox and quite a bit of cream cheese. It comes open face, which I was not aware of, but that didn't matter. It was delicious and for dining out, well worth the price. My only criticism, and why I gave 4-stars for service, is due to their system. They make orders as they come in and apparently they do many more online orders than they do in house orders. From the time I walked in to the time I ordered and paid, was 4 minutes. I got my food 13 minutes later. Had I been on my way to work, this would be an issue. Pine Tree location: The worst, raw, cold hash brown and the bagel was so pale that it was still white. The staff seemed on the condescending side but I always give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was an off day for any given staff member in food service. But, for the quality of this food, the staff’s attitude, there were too many factors for how our, and only our food looked. The kind older woman that took my coffee order was awesome. A hazelnut latte, and it was great. I was on a trip last week 3/14/25 to visit my daughter in college there. And for 3 years have loved CTB and will try it again. But please, do better for every single customer. We all pay the same money, we should all get the same treatment and food.
