Summary: We had a fantastic experience with this Johnson Fitness store (they are not all created equal). The store manager here is named Martha, and she is wonderful. You may think it'll be less of a headache to buy from a big box store, but I personally had a significantly smoother experience with Johnson Fitness customer service. You may think it'll be cheaper to buy from a Best Buy or Costco, but I would suggest that you consider coming in and having a conversation with Martha to see what she can do for you, because she really tried her best to help us out cost-wise, and we're so happy we got our treadmill from Johnson Fitness.
Prior to this purchase, we visited 3 different fitness stores on multiple occasions throughout 2022 with admittedly no intention of buying a treadmill from them. We went to test out treadmills that Best Buy didn't have on display but ultimately ended up purchasing from Best Buy...TWICE. I'd say the primary reason we went with BB was that we didn't think Johnson Fitness would match the aggressive sale prices of BB (one of the other JF locations we visited told us they couldn't match the price) and that delivery and install would be way more of a headache than with Best Buy. We also assumed that BB would have better customer service and better aftercare if we had any issues pop up, etc. We were wrong on all counts.
Best Buy took AGES to deliver the treadmills and did a shoddy install. Also, they outsource their customer service to very poorly trained foreign reps, and it was the biggest headache to try to resolve the multitude of issues we had with deliveries, returns, and installations.
Johnson Fitness, on the other hand, showed up on time for their delivery, and the installation went seamlessly. I'm pretty sure that their delivery and install came out cheaper than Best Buy. And, of course, it goes without saying that having a local phone number and a live person to call and speak to is an invaluable resource. Martha helped us so much by competitively pricing out our Matrix T75 treadmill, and I loved knowing that she would be available to advocate for us, not only if we ran into any issues with delivery and installation, but in the future should we run into any issues with our equipment.
I definitely recommend giving them a shot over your...
Read moreUPDATE: The issues have worsened and neither Horizon (manufacturer) nor Johnson (distributor) are responding to customer service requests. The treadmill I was sold has known issues with static electricity issues with use in basement (thus I would have never bought this model had I known). I have sustained a shock so severe it caused a cardiac arrhythmia and neither company has bothered replying about steps to mediate.
Purchasing a treadmill through Johnson Wellness started out wonderful- easy process in store, prompt delivery, didn't feel like they were upselling me in the store. Overall very happy. Later, however, the treadmill started having significant static electricty problems. They have grown so significant that they will stop the treadmill from functioning mid-run, and they really hurt! I contacted the manufacturer directly through the warranty and had a few different service calls to attempt to fix the issue- new grounding wire, lubing the belt. new computer. After months of back and forth I called Johnson where I bought the equipment to see if they had any way to help me as I spent a considerable amount of money here. They told me that they've heard of this issue and that it is likely a result of "user error". They escalated back to the manufacturer who once again did not fix the issue. The recommendations, apart from checking the outlets which we've already done, include wearing all cotton clothing when using the treadmill, using a humidifier in the basement where it is housed, or moving it out of the basement. I would've never bought such an expensive piece of equipment from them for use in my basement gym if I knew this was likely to happen. I regret my purchase and am now stuck with a half-fitness half-torture device. This is mainly an issue of the manufacturer, however, it is clearly a known problem from the retailer that was...
Read moreI recently visited this gym store to purchase a set of adjustable dumbbells, and overall, it was a great experience. Walking into the store, I was immediately greeted by knowledgeable sales rep who guided me through various options. He explained the differences in brands, weight ranges, and adjustment mechanisms, which helped me make an informed decision.
One of the biggest advantages of buying in-store was being able to test the dumbbells before purchasing. I could feel the grip, check the ease of weight adjustments, and compare different models side by side. This hands-on experience reassured me that I was making the right choice, something I wouldn’t have had if I bought online.
The pricing was reasonable, and while some models were slightly more expensive than online options, the ability to see and try them in person made up for it. Plus, there were no shipping delays or concerns about receiving a damaged product. And I was able to pick up my set of dumbbells on the same day.
I ended up purchasing a mid-range set with a quick-adjustment system, and so far, it’s been fantastic for my workouts.
If you're looking to buy adjustable dumbbells, I highly recommend checking out this gym store first. The personal assistance and ability to test the equipment make it well...
