Summary: Clumpy, choppy, rough hair, uneven layers. Dont go, dont trust the five star reviews (probably all from friends), chopped & mutilated hair - Pictures available, & gaslighting. (Read entire review for full idea).
I walked in with beautiful long hair that almost reached my waist. It was in need of a trim, evening out the layers, & to have it cleaned up a bit. About 7 months ago I got a wolf cut, but as it grew out, it got a bit messy. My hair was still healthy & beautiful, & I was looking forward to this cut as my birthday just passed, & I wanted to have "new" hair for my "new" year.
I told Amanda that I would like to KEEP MY LENGTH as much as possible, clean up my layers, & have face framing layers. She showed me how much she would cut off based on the dead ends, & it was about 2-3 inches which I agreed to.
My hair was washed by this other lady (Waste of money when other places massage/put pressure on the scalp to relax you as a part of the hairwash)
It took about 30 minutes to cut my hair? Throughout it all, Amanda tended to another customer who was arguing price & scheduled another customer on the phone. I initiated conversation with Amanda - about how long she's been cutting hair (20 years she said), how running a business is hard, about her sons. I also told her that I've had a horrible experience where my long hair was chopped off and it was hard to trust hair salons after but if I were to find one, I'd be a loyal customer. The conversation was very pleasant & I felt optimistic about my cut.
I ended up drying my hair myself (as it's not included in the wash and cut). I was horrified, but I tried to be optimistic. (See picture of me in the green shirt.) My hair was chopped off. Over a foot was gone. Where was the length I asked for her to keep???
I asked her if she could take a look & she agreed. I patiently waited while she tended to another customer - a lady who came in for her hair to be curled with an iron for her birthday. Amanda did the front and top, but totally did not touch the back, then proceeded to spray a butt ton of hairspray & disregarded that the granny was nearly choking. The customer was a bit concerned about the back of the head, & although it was clearly untouched from my pov, Amanda promised it was touched & looked good. (Maybe because her hair was thinning the back wasn't touched, I don't know - I'm not a hair stylist, but it was clearly not truthful as an onlooker). She charged this lady $20??!! For what? 5-10 min hair curling with an iron & A LOT of hairspray??
Amanda finally got to me. I told her the ends of the entire hairdo looked rough and uneven, all the layers were towards the bottom - not throughout the hair, & nothing was blended. She proceeded to tell me that I didn't ask correctly & I should ask for long layers & she just did what I asked for. She proceeded to cut more... & more & FINALLY brought out the thinning sheers after I kept complaining about how rough and unblended everything looked. She touched my face framing layers... but said she wouldn't touch the other parts since it'll take off too much (after she chopped off everything).
I had already paid by the time she touched my hair the second time. Left a 20% tip & I was never rude, I was fairly pleasant, understanding & patient due to our conversations. & never have I had an issue when I told other places how I wanted my haircut, exactly how I told Amanda.
M friends asked me what happened to my hair, my mom said my hair looks like it was chewed up by a rat, & my other friend said it looks SALVAGEABLE.
The picture of me with long hair was 2 weeks prior, green tshirt was the day of, all the other pictures are a week after. I waited a week & more to see if my hair would settle with my normal routine & care. Nope.
I sure won't be back.
*She says she'll honor the price on Groupon if you come in because of it on the phone. *She said long hair is not extra, but said to another customer she said she needed to look...
Read moreI went to the Lux Aura Salon and Spaa today for the first time, and it was absolutely wonderful. Sonia the owner greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. Her staff was very friendly and with smiles. I originally went to have my arms waxed, which they did an amazing job, and I ended up getting a one hour facial and a nostril waxing. Navdeep was my clinician, and she did a fantastic job. She was very knowledgeable and professional. The facial was very relaxing and cleansing, and I feel very clean and like a new man. Another staff member by the name of Sukhi was absolutely adorable with her friendly smiles and pleasant conversation. I highly recommend the Lux Aura Salon and SPAA for any and all of your grooming needs!!! Thank...
Read moreI got a hair color change from blonde balayage to a cherry cola/auburn red. Both Sonia and Sukhi were able to get it done in less than 5 hours! They worked so hard together to transform my hair, while making sure I liked every step of the process and I was comfortable and well-taken care of. They also made me chai and offered snacks and water, very wonderful and cozy place who meets all your needs and wants! I would definitely recommend this place for anything salon related and more. I got my hair and eyebrows done, and I also ended up buying a Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner recommended by Sonia for my new hair. Everything was a 10/10 and the prices are wonderful as well (meaning affordable). Please go...
