So I just finished Thanksgiving dinner 2020. My original plans fell through when I found out Sushi Republic was closed on Thanksgiving. Surprisingly many other restaurants were closed today. Samurai Sushi to the rescue! I had never ordered from them before, but they were open. Placed in order at 2:30 PM for 4:30 PM on Grubhub. Literally 5 minutes after I place the order, someone from the restaurant calls me and tells me that the order will not be ready on time, but they can still fulfill the order by 5 PM. I go to pick up the food at 5 PM, but it isn’t ready until 5:15 PM. I don’t mind because I can see that everyone in the restaurant is working their tails off on Thanksgiving. When I get home, I realize that they forgot my sashimi dinner. They said it was left in the refrigerator, which is understandable. When I get to the restaurant, they give me my missing sashimi and let me take home a Sapporo for my trouble. Just great customer service all around. My girls loved their chicken teriyaki and edamame. One of my friends who can’t eat pork etc because of her religious customs was given pork soup dumplings, despite ordering veggie, and specifying 3 times. She ended up taking a bite and drinking the broth from the pork dumplings, only after swallowing did she think something was wrong. When acquiring staff service to ask, we were informed it was beef, and the response the staff gave to me was, “no you ordered pork”. I was just astounded at the lack of attentiveness, after checking the order he wrote down to realize it was vegetarian, did he apologize after. However the deed had already been done, and it was clear my friend was upset. They hadn’t even offered any alternatives to make it up to my friend. Read moreGot a flyer in the mail for this newly opened sushi place, thus, giving it a try. I can't find them on any food delivery sites, created an account on their own website but the only option is for pick up. So I called the restaurant and found out they do have delivery. Promotions are not very clear, some only apply for eat in, some for pick up etc.
Food arrived in decent time, ordered a maki combo 3 rolls and a hibachi scallop dinner box. There are two soups (mushroom and miso) both good, salad with yellowish-dressing ( good). One of the roll is shrimp tempura, which has a strong weird oily flavor. Either there is some old oil or they just soak in oil for a long time. Scallop and vegetables are packed in one box without any partition, which makes everything mixed together, not very pretty. Vegetables are over-cooked. I asked for well-done scallop but they are over-cooked as well. There are two dressings, one with ginger and one creamy, both are good.
