My review is for the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction coarse! I started this for my need to connect my mind with my heart and ease my anxiety. I wanted to feel more aligned emotionally. I was diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia last year and with all of the physical pain and severe anxiety my doctor recomnended trying this and I'm so happy that he did. Katie, the instructor, is a beautiful human being. She has this light that shines out of her that makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed. She genuinely cares and you can feel that. Her vibe just truly makes you feel safe and willing (which is typically my biggest hurdle when starting something new) I've always been terrrrribke at meditation. It makes me uncomfortable and anxious and frankly overwhelmed with thoughts but Katie really guides you in a way that helps you succeed and by the end of just the second class I truly felt calm and more at peace from the meditation body scan! This was huge for me! I was able to take this practice into my daily life when my insomnia acts up and the anxious thoughts arise. I remember key things that she has said that guide me through the meditation that make it less intimidating and more helpful. There are many lessons in the course that help me choose joy and positivity over sadness and negative thoughts. I have much more to learn but I'm excited to learn it at peace in Piermont! I will definitely be joining the second cycle in March to continue my journey of self development. You can't feel better unless you put in the work and it can be uncomfortable to change how your brain operates but this course is for sure leading me on the right direction! Thank you...
Read moreI started my personal meditation journey with Peace in Piermont (PIP) about five weeks ago after meditating for a couple of minutes at family yoga on Saturday mornings for several weeks. My goal was/is to become more mindful of the moment so I can enjoy/appreciate life as it is happening and learn how to be less reactive/angry about situations/feelings I experience. I meet weekly with Katie Stoeckeler in a private meditation/breathing/yoga session. Her demeanor, insight, experience, passion and ability to relate to my struggles is priceless. Katie is invested in my progress/success, not because it is her business, but because she cares and is passionate about helping me. Her passion, joy and satisfaction in my small successes are why I enjoy working with her and remain motivated to improve. Katie realizes that there is no generic solution for each individual so she provides guidance/suggestions to me based upon our candid discussions about me and my personal journey. I am grateful that Katie is in my life and I am able to pursue my personal enrichment journey with her. I already see positive results in only five weeks so the possibilities feel endless! She has also connected with my twins who meditate with me and my wife every night before bedtime so her influence is having a positive impact on my entire family. PIP is a gift to children and adults alike and I hope others will explore programs there as I have done. My experience with PIP is always positive and easy which is another reason why my family and I...
Read moreJust this morning, my 4-year-old daughter exclaimed, "I miss yoga camp!" She went to Peace in Piermont over Spring Break in April 2021 and loved every minute of it. I reminded her that starting in June, she is going to spend the whole summer there and she squealed that she can't wait!
I love PiPs philosophy of teaching yoga, mindfulness and meditation to kids, all while engaging them in art, sensory play, reading, and so much more. The positive energetic and social outlet they specifically provide for kids is so desperately needed, especially now.
Finding PiP was a huge relief for me as a mom. My daughter is highly sensitive and can be hesitant to go new places and engage new people, but she felt at home at PiP from the first day, and wanted to keep going back. She needs to be prompted to eat on her own, and has low muscle tone and low stamina. At PiP, Katie, the owner, takes time to hear and understand each child's unique needs, and works with parents to come up with a strategy and plan to make sure the child's needs are met. I feel so comfortable sending my child there, knowing Katie has thought of everything and is on top of it all, and knowing my child gets so much out of it.
I love the family-oriented and community-centric essence of Peace in Piermont, and am so glad to be...
