Let me just say first, I actually love this space. I've been here a couple times with my toddler and she loves it there. Hence, my reasoning for deciding to hold her 2nd birthday at this site.
The complete organization and vibes at this place is so tense. It is true what others have said that it is run like a factory, from my party experience. It was very hard to enjoy. Parties are an hour and half long and they do not give you the opportunity to pay for extra time (only for add-ons but not for play). My party was from 2-3:30pm and they uphold this time completely. Upon arrival there was another party there (or open play was finishing). We entered the space for play at 2:03pm. Ordinarily, no big deal. However, the fact that everything felt so tight on time, it ended up being a big deal to me. When I arrived I did notice cleaning up from prior party (in party room). However, there was no cleaning up in play area for my party as people were walking out as we were walking in.
In the play area, the staff member with the children did not interact with the children at all. She was kind though, if asked a question by an adult. At the end, she rallied everyone up for a photo which was a mess.
I ordered a lot of food for my party as there was a lot of adults as well. I got sandwiches that had pork, beef, chicken etc. Prior to having my party I called to ask if there was any way that the staff can just label sandwiches with the type it is, or if I can bring some in myself because many of the adults don't eat either beef or pork. I was sure to mention the religious reasoning to the staff member. They kind of put me off and told me that it would be obvious what the meats were. I decided that maybe I am overreacting and it would be obvious. When we went in the party room, nothing was labeled, and it was not clear what the meats were. For example, in the platter with roast beef and turkey mixed, some did and did not have roast beef (I guess because of the way it is sliced and prepped). I had an incident with a family member who accidentally ate some beef, thinking it was only turkey. That was embarrassing on my part and could have been so simply avoided with labels. Many of my guests did mention that they did not even have time to put dipping sauces in their sandwiches.
The party room situation felt more of a disaster than in the play area. It felt even more pressured. Before anyone could take out food for themselves or my child could eat, they wanted to sing happy birthday. They were also cleaning up minutes before my party ended. I understand that Once Upon a Treetop is also a business but it should still be enjoyable for patrons.
Also, I was very disappointed. I had a bakery cake and a homemade cake. I provided two sets of candles for both cakes. When it was time to cut the cake one set was missing. I inquired to the male staff I handed it to about it and he shrugged it off like he just didn't know. Everything happened so fast and I just proceeded with the cutting of the cake because I just wanted my daughter to have a good time. She did have a good time because I made sure of it. However, this was the most uncomfortable party I've ever been to or hosted. I've been to several other locations for parties which are much more accommodating and friendly with children.
I hate to leave this review. I really like the play area at this place. However, I would never recommend this place for a party to anyone. I also rarely leave reviews but I think if I'd seen a review like this prior, I would have appreciated it and been sure to not book this place...
Read moreI brought my daughter here after she went on a field trip with her camp to check it out.
I thought it was really cute inside and was fantastic for free play. It was a bit crowded and toys seemed dirty (Im a bit of a germaphobe). It was extremely crowded and there was no one in there besides one girl who was on the second level of the jungle gym area.
This was not my reason for being upset with the place because A) its a holiday and kids were off and its going to be crowded B) the toys are naturally going to get dirty with 100s of kids touching them.
My problem was the birthday party we decided to have here this past January 2015.
It was overpriced and the staff was not helpful.
The package includes 12 paid kids and the birthday child is free. The price came out to about $45.00 per child (I didn't do the math till after party.) The owner called me three days before to confirm pizza and drinks which she turned out being really rude and even laughed at me for asking if I can bring in bottled water for the adult because they only provided a gallon of water that parents had to pour themselves which I didn't think was appropriate. The birthday attendants were messy and you could clearly see they didn't want to be there. We were not allowed to bring our own balloons so the owner said I would have to order them through her for $1.00 a piece. When we got there the birthday attendant said he forgot to blow them up so we decided not to do them. The favors are provided through them and where not the size that I was originally shown and the girl behind the counter child it up to being "Chinas" fault and that they didn't produce or ship them right and that I "should know how china does things". The free time play was fine there is absolutely no structure to the event so an hour of free play felt dragged out but the kids seemed to have still enjoy. I figured the attendants would play games with the kids. It truly ended up being a birthday factory we had to wait for one party to finish and as we were leaving they were rushing to clean up so the next party could come in.
While the place is cute I wouldn't recommend having a party here based on the staff rudeness, prices and overall it's not worth $45.00 per kid. I would still attend for free play maybe just not...
Read moreI booked dinner with Santa for my son and we got terribly sick with high fevers and everything. I called 4 days prior to the date in hopes of getting credit (as it’s noted on their policy) to go another time and get some use of my $75 dollars I spent. They said I cannot get store credit until someone else purchases tickets in my place. So not only am I not getting my money back- I cant even use it another time (they keep the money) What’s even more concerning is that this is a children’s play place where children are frequently sick- all this does is encourage parents to bring sick kids to go and play bc they booked tickets in advance and it’s impossible to get any credit to go another time (where they still keep their money! lol)
Edit to review- I changed to 4 stars- I finally got to take my son here. It’s such a beautiful place for the kids to play. Pretty clean. It has such a sweet warm atmosphere and my 3yr old and 8month old had so much fun! It seems that bc this place is so busy they were easily able to give me credit bc someone else booked my spot which was great! Didn’t give them 5 stars bc i stand by my initial review that I don’t agree with their policy (yes I understood and fully read the policy from the beginning- to the person/owner who responded) if I lose money bc someone else didn’t book my spot for an event- then in the same manner I should get my money back if someone booked my spot- rather than double dipping- you got paid by the person who booked my spot for the event plus you kept my money on top of that. It’s not really an...
