Please read this before booking a room here. This is my review. I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Plainview NY. I have never left a negative review on Google, but I felt a need to let others know.
My visit to the Holiday Inn Plainview was disrespectful at best and terrible at worst My family and I came into town unexpectedly due to the death of my father. I choose the Holiday Inn, because thus had been a chain of hotels that I considered familiar, trustworthy and a place I could count on. on arrival, I could tell it was an older place, first impression was not exactly impressed. Older place, but that’s OK if everything else is OK which it wasn’t from. Far from it. When I arrived for my stay after a 12 hr car ride, I was greeted less than enthusiastic by the gentleman at the front desk. I explained my situation and if possible, to find us a quieter part of the hotel. He send us to a room, that on entry, smelled terribly like smoke as did the hallway. The room 2 doors down were lighting up what I’m guessing was must’ve been a giant joint and blasting the music. Not judging, just not what I was expecting at Holiday Inn at four in the afternoon. As I returned to the front desk to explain the siatuation, I was informed by the same gentlemen, I just spoke to, looking annoyed, he said he “didn’t know what else he had, Did I want to check out?” Miraculously, I kept my cool. I asked to speak to your manager, who was both apologetic and exhausted. He rolled his eyes as if to say “he understands how terrible his help is, gave me a few drink tickets for the bar, and found me a room, which I took, because I was exhausted at this point. On day 2, after returning to the room, there was a burning smell and loud noise coming from the bathroom. I called the front desk, they did send a repairman who quickly fixed the issue, the smell remained. Night 3, after the funeral, we returned and around midnight, the incredible loud fire alarm went off, we left the room, walking toward the front desk. No one was there, no employees to explain anything. The alarm just stopped. We were left to assume all was well. It’s really crazy. Imagine going to a hotel and you can’t find anyone who works there so strange Also, curious is the amount of residents there who appeared to live there. I believe some of the rooms may be used for section 8 housing. Great idea, use the room for people who need them. Just not what I was expecting, Or paying for. What’s happened to Holiday Inn. This is a chain I grew up with, one I could trust and was happy to patronize. Put yourself in my position, what would you think. I choose this location because it offered room service, which we did order from multiple times and that was the only bright spot. Point being, I travel to NY often and my family will not be back to stay with this location or this chain. My earliest memory of going away as a child always included a stay at a Holiday Inn. It was a trip highlight. Now I’m disappointed, to say the least. I reached out to Holiday Inn, they acknowledge the problem and after spending almost $1000 with the chain over three days offered me some points, which equated to almost nothing. So I assume that they want me to spend some more of my money to give them another shot. I will not be doing that. I recommend that you don’t either. I don’t usually take the time to leave reviews, but this was unusually bad!! Now they will reach out with a standard blurb from someone apologizing and doing nothing for me they will do the same for you. I’ll try out a Hilton or Marriott, which are both within eight minutes of this hotel. Newer establishments, you live and learn. Also, the location, shady area, industrial area! just throwing that in- For...

After reading a mix of reviews (including several not-so-great ones), I decided to give this hotel a try—and here’s my honest take.
The Good: • First off, free parking is a huge plus! • The hotel lobby, bar, restaurant, and pool area are all beautifully designed—definitely gives a good first impression. • The staff were amazing across the board—super friendly, polite, and helpful throughout my stay. • I appreciated the easy access to rooms from the outside doors, which made coming and going convenient. • One of my favorite features: a 24/7 coffee machine in the lobby offering espresso, lattes, and more. I just wish they also offered regular coffee with cream and sugar out in the mornings for those of us who like to keep it simple.
The Not-So-Good: • The rooms are far from quiet. The walls are paper thin—I could hear everything going on in nearby rooms and hallways. • While the layout of the room was okay, the beds were terrible. Every move made the bed creak like it was about to collapse. • The toilet kept filling to the brim, though I will say maintenance came quickly when I called the front desk. • The shower had drainage issues, so I had to stand in a small pool of water while showering—not ideal. • A bit strange—no real windows to the outside. The room’s window looked into the hallway. Not a dealbreaker, just different. • On the plus side, if you like pitch-dark rooms to sleep in, you’ll like this. But if you’re a light sleeper or need peace and quiet—this isn’t the place for you. • The AC vent in the bathroom was loud every time it kicked on. • Room service is overpriced, and they charge a $3 fee per item, which adds up fast. • While the restaurant itself is nice and the food was great, the pricing is extreme. $15 for pancakes is a bit much—and if you want to add blueberries, it’s an extra $3 That kind of pricing feels unreasonable for a basic breakfast.
Overall: The hotel has a lot of potential with its beautiful common areas and genuinely kind staff. But between the noise, uncomfortable beds, plumbing problems, and overpriced dining, it misses the mark for comfort and value. Depending on what you prioritize in a stay, this could either be a decent spot—or a...
Read moreI spent a night at this hotel with my daughter and her family. She traveled all the way from a southern state with her one-year-old child, while I came from Albany, NY. Anyone who has children or has seen babies can imagine how exhausting a flight can be for parents. Yet, upon our arrival, instead of finding a chance to rest, we saw three black cockroaches in our rooms. It was as if these bugs were regular occupants.
We complained to the front desk, only to be dismissively told that they could have come in through small openings. Expecting us to Instead of relaxing, deal with their pest problem. They moved us to an upper floor, where we finally unpacked, but not without hesitation and disgust.
We had no other options for accommodation as no other rooms were available nearby. The hotel’s restaurant was a disaster, staffed by inexperienced, impolite personnel who clearly had no clue about proper service. The next morning, I took my one-year-old granddaughter to the restaurant, hoping for an early breakfast. Despite being the first ones there, we were ignored in favor of two gentlemen who arrived much later. Offended, I left with my granddaughter, only to be dismissed with a sarcastic “GOODBYE” from the waitress.
I reported this to the front desk, suggesting that their restaurant staff desperately needed training. Upon checkout, we were offered a mere $25 discount per room, which was a joke compared to the $250 per night we paid. This hardly made up for the stress, filth, and rudeness we endured.
To make matters worse, they charged us for three rooms even though we only used two. Repeated attempts to contact management have been futile, as it seems the manager Patrick is a phantom, never available. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The service is terrible , the rooms windowless and are infested with pests, and the staff seems intent on playing tricks and making unjustified charges. My recommendation, Avoid this place...
