I’m currently eating Saratoga Apple’s donuts as I write this and they are delicious!!
However, I would like to mention that these donuts were meant to be in place of my wedding cake. My wife and I booked an event center in Saratoga Springs years ago. The venue wanted $500 as a cake cutting fee and we decided to do cupcakes instead.
Once someone suggested that, as an October wedding, having apple cider donuts would be absolutely amazing we had the best idea; getting them made fresh and locally in Saratoga would be perfect! We have been to Saratoga Apples a ton of times and love their amazing beer selection and dope apple orchard so obviously it was the only place we even considered calling. The wedding coordinator recommended we ask them to deliver which was a great idea because we had a few things pop up on our wedding day that required our time and attention which we were not prepared for.
We called Saratoga Apples and asked if they could promise us 210 donuts for 10/16/21 and they said they would be happy to be a part of our big day. They took our name, the delivery time, address and credit card and we paid for everything immediately. It was a huge relief for us considering all of the other stresses of planning a wedding. The donuts were paid for.
On the morning of our wedding (the donuts were paid for) my wife got a call from Saratoga Apples and they confirmed the address and that they would deliver them between 2:30-3:30. The wedding coordinator planned a perfect Saratoga Apple table with fall decor and platters to put the donuts on. The donuts were already paid for.
The wedding started at 4:00. The donuts were already paid for. My bride had her phone playing music all day but somewhere around 3:45 I was called into the bridal suite and found her on the balcony with a very scared look on her face. She had just received a very rude voicemail that said something along the lines of ‘we have 210 donuts sitting here and two thousand people who would love to buy them if you aren’t coming to get them’ AS MY BRIDE IS ABOUT TO WALK DOWN THE AISLE! The donuts were already paid for.
They apparently delivered them at some point though, because now we have hundreds of donuts.
They...
Read moreLet me begin by saying that I haven't been apple picking at this orchard in years but this place was the place to go when my children were little. You would get a bag, pick your apples and come back to the store to pay for them. There was so much to do for the kids. They had wooden cutouts that the kids could put there faces in. They had some animals that the kids could pet , a kid sized pumpkin patch and a few other various activities for the kids. Yesterday, I decided to bring my grandson apple picking so that he could experience the same Fall fun that his mother experienced when she was little. My husband, my daughter and my daughter's boyfriend came. When we got there, loud Reggae music was playing, the kids fun area was gone, there were vendors all over the place selling chili, clam chowder, etc at outrageous prices I might add. We waited in a very long line to buy a bag to pick our apples. I didn't mind having to pay for the bag first. It's understandable. However, when I got up to the booth, the girl asked me how many adults, how many children? I told he four adults, one child. She told me $47. I had a very puzzled look on my face as I expected to pay $20 for two bags. I looked at the bag sizes hanging from the tree behind her. I told her that I only wanted two peck-sized bags as we only wanted two bags of apples. She said that there policy is to charge $10 per adult and $7 per child for "admission" to the orchard and it includes a wagon ride. Unbelievable!!! I can't believe people are dumb enough to pay these fees. That's ridiculous. People need to just not go there and send a message to the owners about the scam of a business that have created. Needless to say, I told her to keep her bags and her apples. We went to Riverview Orchards in Clifton Park. You get a bag, fill it up, and pay when you get back. The five of us had a great time there. There were activites and animals and the wagon ride was free whether you bought...
Read moreOur family loves Saratoga Apple! We have been apple pickin here for about 4 years now and we've never been disappointed. It wasn't exactly busy but there were quite a few people, thankfully the orchard is big enough that it was still quiet, calm and fun for us. It is a little smaller than other orchards in the area. It doesn't have any playground equipment, farm animals, mazes or any other activity. We did have some trouble navigating with the provided map this year though, we were looking for Gingergolds or any gold variety apple (on their Facebook page it was posted that they opened u-pick for Gingergolds) but we couldn't find any at all until we went to get donuts and there were a few inside the shop. So we didn't get any. This orchard is absolutely beautiful and obviously well-kept. The donuts are always fresh and delicious, we buy a dozen since that's the limit but if we could order more then we definitely would. The one and only thing that I don't like about this orchard is that you have to pay for a bag regardless of whether or not you want to pick apples. Example: we wanted to buy two large ("adult" size) bags for apples, one for each of my children because my husband and I were just going to watch them and take pictures of them picking apples. That's not allowed here so we had to buy two smaller bags and two bigger bags, so we will be eating/baking/candying/crafting with apples for weeks (maybe months) but if we had a choice there's no way we would've brought home that many apples. Since we had to pay for the apples anyways though we definitely weren't leaving without them. My family will continue to visit Saratoga Apple for the u-pick seasons. It can provide a nice, fun...
