Jewelry Repair Center — Local services in Town of Schodack

We have frequented this shop many times over the last 10 years and have always been satisfied with their work. We've had jewelry cleaned, resized, dipped, repaired, etc. On Monday, August 26th my husband, father in law and 4 year old visited this business again to have some watches repaired. The business was closed but they were not aware of that when they initially arrived and approached the door. Once they realized it was closed, they paused to read the sign with the businesses operating hours and returned to the vehicle. As my husband was preparing to leave, a dark green jeep wrangler pulled up behind his vehicle, preventing him from backing up. The driver of the vehicle got out and started walking around the back of my husband's vehicle and up the driver's side which is when my husband noticed the man was also recording him with his phone. My husband rolled down the window to ask the man what he was doing and the man informed him that the store was closed. My husband acknowledged this and asked why he was recording. The individual responded, "well we were robbed on Sunday," as though to imply MY FAMILY was to be suspected of having something to do with that or that it was a justification for the unlawful detention of my family. The man then reiterated that the business was closed, got back into his vehicle and left. My family was left feeling harassed and unsafe and my husband had to explain bigotry and profiling to our 4 year old. Having only gone across the street to another local business, we were able to obtain the license plate of the driver and took the information to the local police dept. Unfortunately, we were informed that individual was most likely the owner of this business and that his harassment and recording of my husband's license plate, vehicle make and model and face, without his consent, were not unlawful! We now have to worry that this unscrupulous individual may post this video somewhere making my husband the target of others. Needless to say, we will never visit this business again and I hope this review informs others of the type of person this...

Normally, I would not badmouth a small business, but I am incredibly upset. I brought a sterling silver ring in to be repaired in the middle of January. When I dropped the ring off, the girl who received it told me that they would give me a call when the ring was finished. I waited several weeks, assuming that the repair was taking longer than normal. I called today to inquire if the ring was ready, and I got attitude from the man who answered the phone. He said “we don’t call you when it’s done.” If that was the only problem, I would not be leaving this review. I was shown my ring, the repair looks good, and it’s nicely shined. HOWEVER- The setting holds a beautiful piece of green amber, and I’ve had this ring for years. The Amber was completely dulled. I was hoping that there was just some leftover polish or something on it, but I don’t think that is the case. When the woman who was helping me with my pick up, brought the ring back to the repair man, and made mention of what I said about the Amber, I heard him scoff and give her attitude saying “well, this is resin because it’s Amber. It’s not a stone.” He barely tried to clean it, and it was returned to me. I wish I had a taken a picture of it when I dropped it off. I paid for what they had done, and left. I absolutely cannot recommend the Jewelry Repair Center enough!

I took my wedding ring here after one of the smaller diamonds came out. The small diamonds have been an issue since I got my ring several years ago. I’d previously taken it to Kay Jewelers to get the repairs done because it was covered under my warranty but the last time I’d taken it there they put a glob of solder on top of one of the diamonds to hold it in - it looked terrible.

When another small diamond came out I took it here instead. The staff were extremely thorough in their explanations to me and gave me all of my options to fix my ring both immediately and long term.

I got my ring back today and not only do the diamonds look so much more secure but they also removed the glob of solder from Kay’s hack job repair, something I didn't even think they could do. Their pricing was very reasonable too which was a concern for me when I was considering where to take it to begin with.

I honestly couldn’t be happier. I have gone back to harassing my husband to look at my ring sparkle again ☺️ I’m so glad to have my ring back and so impressed with how much it looks like it had the day I got it. Thank you to everyone at Jewelry...
