Heard good things about this place from a few people and decided to make the trip out. Really out of the way, but it was easy to find and plenty of street parking out front.
The sheer amount of stuff here is staggering. Shelves of stuff wall to wall, cases packed with stuff wherever it will fit. Bins and boxes all over the place that I had no idea if it was okay to look through or not. There wasn't space to even if I was comfortable doing that.
The prices were as reasonable as I'd heard, some discs I looked at off the shelf had some pretty nasty scratches, and some game boy titles requiring a battery to save hadn't been replaced. I think it only stuck out because it looked like there were small bins of repair parts on the counter that require soldering to install, so it's not that they couldn't. I don't mean to nitpick, I've just been to a lot of retro game stores. Most mom and pop places like this are understaffed and run by a couple folks who love what they do, I get if things are a bit of a mess.
I didn't speak much with the one guy working there, but at some point I asked him if there were any more tcg singles besides what was in the case, and he said that was everything they had. I saw some boxes that had more buried in the cases, I assumed they weren't ready for sale yet, which is fine.
Shortly after, another customer comes in who was obviously a shop regular, and they began talking about the cards I asked about, and the guy behind the counter pulled out a box of cards and a binder which I assume had more cards. I don't really care about the cards, it's just a fun thing to collect. I wasn't gonna confront the employee about it to see if it was a misunderstanding or not, it's not worth making a fuss over, but it didn't feel great thinking my money wasn't good enough.
I don't want to discourage anyone from checking this place out, there's a lot of cool stuff, lots of things I don't see very often. My experience just happened to...
Read moreI stumbled upon this store on the way back from the star trek bridge museum in Ticonderoga. Loved it, their selection and prices are fantastic, I live in VA, but hope to be able to do business with them again. I got a very nice CIB copy of Gargoyle's Quest 2 here for a GREAT price, much better than online or any convention. I also got soul blazer for SNES. Both were 100% authentic, I checked when I got home. You can trust these people. They clean these games thoroughly and they know what they are talking about. The owner is a really nice guy and it seems like a family operation. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I wish I had a store like this in my town. You NEED to go here if you like...
Read moreKen (the owner) is literally one of the nicest folks in town. His prices are super fair, he even makes an occasional deal out of the kindness of his heart, he never fails to spark conversation and give his best knowledge of any questions you have. I’ve spent SO much money here and have yet to regret a penny. I even once had a game not work for me and happened to not have the receipt, he took the game back without hesitation and I was able to exchange it for something of equal price. Great guy all around and awesome place...
