This historic American movie theater (renovated 2018) has been showing films since 1938. It is definitely one of the most welcoming if not interesting and enjoyable movie theaters in the Southeast United States. Even if you only go once I recommend making the trip to Tryon North Carolina to treat yourself and your family to the experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Recommended.

🎟️Tickets are $8.00 for 7PM evening show & $6.50 for the 3PM Sunday matinee.

💻📲 I recommend ordering online before coming as many shows sell out.

🅿️ Parking is in front of the theatre on Trade Street or across the railroad tracks on McCown Street but you should arrive early especially if it's a popular feature.

There are no reserved seats but if you come with a friend you can grab some great seats and get in line at the refreshments counter to enjoy the awesome selection of popcorn, snacks, drinks including beer and wine (at surprisingly very reasonable prices). 🍿🍫🍺🍷

There are several interesting framed vintage movie posters along the walls with some historical telegrams and newsclippings as well. it was fun to look at them before and after the feature. The theater is very clean and the staff is friendly and kind as well.

The upstairs balcony has wider seats, and some tables for your snacks and refreshments. There is no extra charge to sit in the balcony.

Also, in addition to the latest Hollywood releases usually on the 2nd & 4th Monday / Tuesday the local Tryon Film Society arranges showings of recent "critically acclaimed and socially challenging" films as well.

See you on the road, 📸...

This Theatre is a wonderful place to come to a movie! I'm in a wheelchair and they have a couple of seating places for my chair and my husband. The Theatre Attendants let me in as soon as we buy our tickets so if I need to use restroom and get settled before the crowd comes in. My husband will get me parked and get our wonderful movie "snacks"! The Theatre has a Old Timey feel with wonderful modern conveniences. Heat in the winter, cool air in the summer and such comfy seats to sit in. On Christmas Night we came to see Tom Hanks in AWonderful Day in the Neighborhood. EVERY SEAT IN THE BOTTOM LEVEL AS WELL AS THE BALCONY were full. The groups had to split up and not sit with their friends or family because there were that many people. We have seen it full or somewhat full but this night was seriously FULL! More than one popping of the corn that night and not much was bagged up to take home. That's how you know TRYON MOVIE THEATRE was FULL!

A real throwback to an age gone by, this quaint and absolutely wonderful theatre makes going to the movies enjoyable and cozy again.

They only have one screen, but what they offer on it is amazing! We went to see "A League of Their Own" (one of my wife's all time favorites) and it was incredible. The seats are perfect, the cleanliness is unbelievable, and I've never been more happy about the placement of the snack bar. It's part of the theatre... you don't have to miss the movie to get a refill!

To top it all off... we showed up early and they had a bonus clip playing for those who were there (the famous comedy sketch "Who's on First").

I personally stopped going to the movies years ago, but at $10 for a ticket... we'll...

Finally came and checked out this movie theater… absolutely a gem! Evan was super welcoming, showed me around before the show started. I like how you can use the side stairs on the second floor to go back down and get snacks and drinks and still watch the movie. Will definitely be coming back soon for other showings. I enjoyed the small nostalgic show before the actual movie. This place is legit!

The owners did an absolute marvelous job in restoring this old theater to its former glory. It’s a must go to for a night out in the charming town of Tryon. I recommend sitting upstairs in the comfy chairs or couches! Also pay close attention to the trailers and intro reel, the personalization to the town and theater are a fantastic touch!
