I hope Brooks does well. I've been there twice and each time the food has been excellent. Service as also been excellent.
However, my biggest issue is the LOUD MUSIC. I go out to eat enjoy discussion with my wife and my friends. The first time I went to Brooks there was a live band with a LOUD trumpet. The music was good, but I did not go there for the music...I went there to eat and to have conversation. The music was too LOUD and no one in my party of six could hear what anyone was saying. I went back this evening (Friday), early, to avoid any band and enjoy the food. Initially all was good, but then someone turned on a rock station and all I heard was Guns & Roses. I did not go to Brooks to listen to music; I went there to spend time with my wife. In addition, this piped in music was also very LOUD. Eventually it was turned off, maybe someone complained, it was then nice. Are folks really ask for music with their meal. While I was leaving a band was coming in. I'm sure they play well...but again are people really coming for the music. Save your money and let us enjoy the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
Another concern is that Brook doesn't tell you that they are charging you a service fee to use your credit card until you see the bill (for those who look at their bill). It would be nice to know. I only left a 20% tip on the food/drink; not on the tax or the service fee.
Again the food and service was great, but if the LOUD music continues, I won't be back.
I totally agree..acoustics is indeed a challenge and also makes it difficult to talk when there is a large crowd. Music just adds to the problem. I could be wrong, but I believe the majority of folks will be going to your establishment for the food and service; this you do an excellent job. Rarely folks go for the music; it just happens to be there because you decide to provide it (first time I came I was with a party of six then I brought my wife party of two; we all wished there was no music because we could not hear what the others were saying when they talked - small sample). One possibility is starting music later in the evening, but , hey, its your restaurant and you can do as you please. I feel your economic pain, unfortunately, all costs trickle down to the consumer and will eventually hurt businesses as well. We know the solution, but this is not the place to discuss. I...
Read moreHorrible food. Atmosphere of a basement. I would normally speak directly with the manager before writing a review, but not this time. The manager did everything up to this point to allow such a bad experience. It shows they do not care, so why tell them what they already know? Wrong orders: hamburger, plain came out with every possible thing on it. How can the kitchen mess that up? Meatloaf, cold and flavorless. How can you serve my mom and sister cold food?? I ordered the fish and chips. Fish was supposed to be cod. It was not dense enough for cod, probably whitefish. The French fries were touted as FAMOUS....like eating cold cardboard. I told the waitress and she came back with another order, also COLD!!! The worst was the blackened blue burger. My friend asked clearly for LIGHT BLACKENED SEASONING. I watched him take a bite, scrape off a thick layer of seasoning, and it still was inedible. He cut the burger in half and gave it to me and said try this. I almost had to spit it out it was SO strong. I think someone in the kitchen read "light" and said haha watch this, IDGAF. Also amazingly bad was the attitude of the lady who brought out our food (not our waitress) as she barked at my friend for not taking a plate from her quickly enough. We were all confused about the burger with everything on it when we knew it was supposed to be a plain burger patty on a bun (my nephew is strict about this, and orders it that way every Sunday, wherever we go) Why would we take something that was obviously wrong? She should not be working in any type of customer service job. See what I mean about not speaking to the manager? When you are leaving a place and all six say "NEVER AGAIN",...
Read moreWhere do I begin? First off I came in yesterday afternoon. This sweet girl named dana was by herself. Literally running to make sure everyone in the restaurant had their food, had drinks, sat people, bussed tables, took Togo orders, I mean.. everything. And not once did she give a bad attitude or be short. She treated everyone with such positivity, was kind, was making jokes, just an all around super star. At one point the entire restaurant was full, and she’s slinging cocktails for our table, and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. She told me to get the southern fried chicken sandwich, and recommended my husband and I split it since we’re not big eaters. Thank god because when she brought out that sandwich, the piece of chicken was covering both buns. She even accommodated and brought us a second bun. Because it truly was big enough to make two sandwiches. It was absolutely AMAZING, I would make a trip back up this way just for that sandwich. Her memory? Outstanding. If I was her yesterday I would have been in tears. Whoever hired her, fantastic choice. I will be back. Thank you Dana for going above and beyond for my family during such a high stress time. You are truly one of a kind. (If you’re to ever read this, don’t ever doubt yourself. You rock!) Oh, and the food, FABULOUS. The...
