In the self checkout line there was no option for green bell peppers, I was typing in every combination and nothing, the self checkout attendant was clearly just watching me not be able to find it and waiting instead of helping, so when I finally gave up and just chose the orange bell pepper (which is more expensive) she waits until we bag it to run over and acted like I was trying to steal and then re rang it up and punched in a code for green peppers since you can't search for it. Then after I pay and am walking out of the self check out section she runs over to where I was and yells out that I need to come back because I didn't pay, I walk back over with the receipt. Instead of apologizing for making a mistake she blames it on the machine saying it's slow to say I paid and said it's ok this time because I have a receipt. Of course it's ok this time, I paid, you made the mistake and made a scene, not me. I feel like they hire people for the self checkout that are unhelpful to try and coerce people into paying...
Read moreI enjoy shopping on base. I sometimes find really good deals and there's a bit more variety of items, things you don't find in your usual "civilian" grocery stores. You can also get your groceries taken out to your vehicle and loaded, for a nominal tip, if you so choose. I would say the only drawback is in the fruits and vegetables. Maybe they're importing from China, I dunno, but the quality and prices are better off base. They have a good meat department and a deli on site. There's also an aisle with "Costco" size items ranging from cereals to soaps. If I could eat 24 bags of microwave popcorn in 8 months, the expiration date, I'd have bought that jumbo box (I could but I shouldn't). So, if you have a valid military ID or know someone who does I recommend trying it at least once. You can also visit the tax free Exchange and Food Court nearby with, yes of course, a Starbucks. As a bonus there are also some recent and past military aircraft you can look at, walk around, and get up close to for...
Read moreIt's a grocery store. If that's what you're looking for than you'll be happy. The employees are kind for the most part, but like anywhere there's always someone who can be difficult. Sometimes, I feel the pressure of asking the baggers to put my groceries back in my buggy instead of them taking out, but for the most part it's not so bad. I usually find what I'm looking for and I love the convenience of have a grocery store on base. My favorite thing are their square bags. They aren't a bad price, they're sturdy, and come in all kinds of designs throughout the year for holidays and such. Their food isn't bad either. The muffins are yummy. The sushi is basically, for the most part, fancy California rolls, still delicious. The deli subs are yummy, too. The employees over in the deli/bakery/sushi are always pleasant. People usually complain about the produce and meat section, but let's be real, it is what it is. Is it the best, no. Is it the worst, also no. But it's affordable, so...
