We arrived at 6:45pm, on a Monday night, a time that most decent restaurants would normally be filled with dinners, but only two other tables were occupied by dinners as we entered. We were warmly greeted and immediately seated by the cashier / hostess. Our misfortune unfolded almost immediately. The dinning room was unpleasantly warm and stuffy, when we advised our server of this and requested that the temperature be adjusted she initially responded first by acting totally clueless and then by turning it to 81* which I felt was still warm, but quickly the AC unit turned on and just the movement of air was a big welcomed relief. We ordered and almost immediately were served our accompanying sides to our meals, soup, egg roll and wing. The appetizer plate arrived at the exact moment with the entree, as if the entire concept that the appetizer and the meal were two separate courses totally escape the staffs ability to think or reason. I enjoyed my General Tso's chicken which I had no issue with. My wife ordered the Beef Egg Foo Young, sadly her food was awful at best. While visibly appealing, once turned over, the patties were visibly over cooked to the side of being burnt. We raised our concerns over her food with our server who seemed unconcerned, confused and indifferent at best. My wives food was simply not edible and was left as served on the table. When the bill arrived it still contained her entree at full price, I broached the matter with the cashier who in turn spoke to the server and then to the manager. The manager "generously" offered to reduce the price of the inedible food by $2.00 And after some exhuasting insistence that we were unhappy the manager finally relented and in a reckless abandonment of customer service, and reduced the price of the burnt food by half? In hindsight my biggest regret was not paying for my food alone then walking out her tab. I dismissed the issue on a laungage barrier, but looking back l firmly believe that the manager was just dumber then a bag of rocks. So in review: AVOID THIS DUMP. The unkempt exterior should be your first clue that you just need to keep moving. And while l firmly feel cheated, the charge for the burnt food meant more to these idiots then my present or future business does, I trust your visit will be equally dismal and disappointing. While this establishment has lip service down to a fine art, they are totally clueless when it comes to customer service. Do yourself a huge favor and, AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! I was left wondering if l was really that hungry to have ever visited in the...
Read moreI wanted some Chinese food, and hadn't gone to this place. I wasn't expecting too terribly much, but jeez, I don't recall a time when I voluntarily paid for worse food.
I got an order of orange chicken, and my wife got sweet and sour pork. I also ordered some hot and sour soup. The orange chicken was the least worst thing. The meat was chewy and thin. It was dark in color, not like what you'd expect. The sauce made the breading on the chicken turn to a mushy paste, but at least I'm confident it was chicken meat, albeit of low quality.
The chicken was some kind of combo meal that came with an egg roll and a chicken wing. The egg roll was very obviously prefabricated and store-bought, not at all made in house. It wasn't hot or good tasting at all. It tasted mostly like bread, kind of like a hot pocket without anything inside. The chicken drum was actually ok, by far the underwhelming highlight of this experience.
The sweet and sour pork was barely recognizeable as pork. The breading was the only good part. The meat was dry, flavorless, dark, and full of gristle. I don't know what part of the pig was used, but it wasn't where pork chops or tenderloins come from.
The hot and sour soup tasted like corn starch, and had a grainy or gritty texture. Behind the overwhelming corn starch flavor were hints of something trying to be hot and sour soup.
To top it all off, they did not even deliver any rice, so we had to cook our own, which is not a huge deal. However, we were extremeley hungry, and this did nothing to contribute to a positive experience.
As hungry as I was by the time our rice was done, I would have eaten pretty much anything. We got no more than four or five bites into our meals before we threw in the towel.
Overall 2/10- would not recommend to anyone who likes things that resemble food. Only giving as high as a two rating for the chicken drum and the delivery guy was on time. These guys need to scale down their menu and focus on doing at least one thing right. What a...
Read moreI had the pleasure of ordering takeout from the Great Wall restaurant, and it was a culinary delight! We opted for the Mongolian combination and the chicken lettuce wrap, and both dishes exceeded our expectations. The flavors were truly authentic, and it felt like we were savoring a piece of Mongolia right in the comfort of our own home.
Even though we couldn't dine in, the experience was still fantastic. The food was packed with care, ensuring it arrived hot and fresh. The portions were generous, leaving us with satisfying leftovers for the next day. The convenience of takeout combined with the restaurant's delectable cuisine made it a memorable meal.
There was only one small regret: we forgot to ask for the hot mustard on the side. That would have been the perfect complement to the already delicious Mongolian combination. However, we've made a mental note to request it next time because we'll definitely be ordering from Great Wall again!
The chicken lettuce wrap was a delightful surprise. The tender, flavorful chicken paired wonderfully with the crisp lettuce leaves, creating a refreshing and light dish. It was the perfect contrast to the richness of the Mongolian combination, giving us a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was also exceptional. The staff was friendly and accommodating during our order process, making sure we got everything we needed. Despite being takeout, we felt the warm hospitality of the Great Wall restaurant.
In conclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our takeout experience at the Great Wall restaurant. The Mongolian combination and chicken lettuce wrap were delightful, and we're already looking forward to our next order. Don't forget to ask for the hot mustard; it's the missing touch to elevate the dining experience even further. Five stars for the Great Wall restaurant,...
